Is buying 44 houses, and then renting them out, the best way to GET RICH?? I just watched a television program here in Canada and they explained that the housing boom is the best way to build wealth. They said that Canada produces 180,000 to 190,000 new families every year and that this will always keep the housing market healthy. The ‘expert’ explained that it is easy to buy one or 2 houses every year and that a 20 year old should own 20 houses, a 30 year old should have 30 houses and a 40 year old should have 40 houses. Finally, when you retire at 65, you will have 65 rental houses and you will be RICH, RICH, RICH, and you can pass on your dynasty to your children. This will provide your children with the best future possible. I rent a 4 bedroom / 3 bathroom house for $1,000 and I was thinking that perhaps I should buy the house down the street for $1,500 per month and then rent out half of it. Then 3 months later I will buy another house and rent all of it out, then do the same every 3 months until I finally have 44 houses ( I’m 44). Is this wise? So what do you think? Is this the way to get rich? I don't want to be poor forever, just living and earning a living wage. I want my kids to have a good future and by owning tons of investment homes I finally see the opportunity to be able to retire comfortably.
If you were fortunate enough to be able to retire really early What would you do all day? If you struck it rich, and retired by your 30s, what would you fill your days with??
Is WVU coach Rich Rodriguez FREAKING CRAZY??? I'm sitting here wondering this very thing, last year WVU coach Rich Rodriguez got a offer from alabama, and he turned it down saying he would like to retire in morgantown, but now he has just accepted a head coaching job at the university of michigan, taking Pat White and Steve Slaton from freshman to the nokia sugar bowl, then the gator bowl, and now the fiesta bowl, which he will apparently not be coaching in he now plans to devote his time to taking care of business in Ann Arbor, including the fact that he is trying to recruit the leading QB in the nation Terrelle Pryor who was previously considering commiting to WVU, i'm just can't understand coach Rodriguez, but you can be sure i will not support him while at michigan, and hope that someday WVU and michigan butt heads in the future.
There really is no way to get rich, is there? You rob an establishment/person, the government stops you. You play the lotto, you don't win, some idiot on a farm does. You write a screenplay and query an agency, but most of them won't accept unsolicited writers. You ask God for help, he never listens, regardless of how many good things you want to do with the money for the Earth and its people. You gamble at a casino, you either lose or you don't get much back to retire from your job. You get injured, not your fault, and you file a lawsuit worth millions but the court or whatever plays the run around with you for months so they don't have to pay you. The government doesn't want people to get rich anymore. They have the dollar-making machines, why not just make more money? Stop acting like money is so scarce you have to wait for the sky to rain, money is MAN-MADE, the govt. can make MORE. Are we all meant to suffer and die broke? From a struggling indie filmmaker.

Do you know how Democrats think. "Tax cuts for the Rich" Read this....? After reading this...feel free to read my great illustrations of Democratic behavior in my previous questions. Thank you for being honest and open-minded about silly democrat behavior and policy. I was having lunch with a retired professor last week and the conversation turned to the government's recent round of tax cuts. "I'm opposed to those tax cuts," the retired college instructor declared, "because they benefit the rich. The rich get much more money back than ordinary taxpayers and that's not fair." "But the rich pay more in the first place," I argued, "so it stands to reason that they'd get more money back." I could tell that my friend was unimpressed by this meager argument. Even college instructors are a prisoner of the myth that the "rich" somehow get a free ride in America. Nothing could be further from the truth. Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day 10 men go to a restaurant for dinner. Suppose that every day 10 men go to a restaurant for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If it was paid the way we pay our taxes, the first four men would pay nothing; the fifth would pay $1; the sixth would pay $3; the seventh $7; the eighth $12; the ninth $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. The 10 men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement until the owner threw them a curve. Since you are all such good customers, he said, I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20. Now dinner for the 10 only costs $80. The first four are unaffected. They still eat for free. Can you figure out how to divvy up the $20 savings among the remaining six so that everyone gets his fair share? The men realize that $20 divided by 6 is $3.33, but if they subtract that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would end up being paid to eat their meal. The restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so now the fifth man paid nothing, the sixth pitched in $2, the seventh paid $5, the eighth paid $9, the ninth paid $12, leaving the tenth man with a bill of $52 instead of $59. Outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out the $20," complained the sixth man, pointing to the tenth, "and he got $7!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got seven times more than me!" "That's true," shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $7 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor." The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night he didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They were $52 short! And that, boys, girls and college instructors, is how America's tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table any more. There are lots of good restaurants in Switzerland and the Caribbean! (Author not named)
How do very rich people like Bill Gates spend their day? Considering he's retired, with all his wealth what does he do? I never see star sitings of him like other celebrities out and about. Where does he go, what does he do, who are his friends?
Is it true that THE PYRAMID SCHEME we call HOUSING, really a PYRAMID SCHEME? (can I still get rich from it?)? Hi Everyone ! I just read that the current housing market is in a bubble, because since about 2003, houses were bought in similar ways to a Pyramid Scheme ( http://dadtalk.typepad.com/dadtalk/2008/02/understanding-t.html?ref=patrick.net ) Is this true?? I heard on the radio that the best way to get rich for common folk was to buy a house, rent it out for what you pay in mortgage (plus 10% for taxes, etc), then after it appreciates 10% to 20% the next year, re-finance it and take the extra cash as a down payment on the next house. Keep doing this for the next 30 years and you will have 30 houses to retire on. It seemed good, and it was on a financial investment advising radio station so they know what they're talking about. They were not selling books or anything, just giving out free advice. Has anyone tried to rent out their houses for the same price as they were paying for in rent ?? If you bought a house with a $1,400 mortgage, was it easy to find renters willin to pay $1,600? I know that the U.S. market is falling but I think that Canada is a much MUCH smarter country that STUPID AMERICA, so our prices will probably continue to keep rocketing upwards. I've got $20,000 saved up now and I see a nice 3 bedroom rental house down the street going for $268,000. I was thinking of buying it and then renting it out. I don't want to wait too long because after all, I want to get rich just as much as anyone else does !!
Would you rather be rich, or famous? Me I'd rather be rich. But then I'm a quiet shy retiring sort.
Party stereotypes. Republicans r 4 rich, Dems 4 everyone else? The Republican party is full of scandal and powerful money-holders. According to many Dems, the Rep party is for rich white men and corporations. That is not my opinoin, just what I have heard so many Dems say. But, if the Democrats are supposed to be for all of the other (non-rich) white people, and all of the minorities, than why is there never a retired electrician or coal miner running for Democratic office? Why is it always just another rich white person, who certainly didn't aquire their wealth "helping" people? The closest thing to having one of their constituents come to office is Obama, and they are destroying him. Yet the people who are supposed to be represented by them will continue to vote Democrat. Why?

IF Rich Franklin retires now how will he be remembered? Should he try to fight at a lower weight? He has lost only to the most elite Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson and early in his career, Lyoto Machida. But has he had a career defining win? Ken Shamrock was probably the biggest name he beat but Shamrock was past his prime and has lost his following 4 fights .
What do you think is the best financial investment you can do keeping the investment period of 10 years.? I am doing my financial planning. I am a log term investor. My current age is 27. I want to retire from my work by 40. In next 13 years I want to be filthy rich. I can do savings of 3K SGD per month. What would be your advice to me about how should I go for my financial planning? Reality looks good idea but other than real estate & stocks is there any other way to make money in a clean way?
I want to get rich, how do i do this? I am 21, I have a good full time job making decent money, but i want to be one of those people who can retire at like 30. I always see ads on tv about like people who make like 20,000 in like a month. Is there any truth to these, which ones actualy work. If you have a story please share.

I have allowed the dear old chap to stay a further 3 days in his butlers quarters before i make way for the new chap, but what can i get him for a going away present, i mean he has worked for the family since childhood. nothing more than a fiver though, i didn't get this rich by wasting money on pee smelling old fogeys who can barley cook three meals and wash the Rolls of a day!
what is the reality of the average combined incomes? This is for all those hard working people out there. I just read the article on yahoo on how to retire rich. If you look at the bottom of the page where they have the combined incomes ide like to know how many people really make that kind of money. im 40 the husband is 45 we both work basically full time and have no kids the house is paid for. there is no way in bleep bleep could we have afforded to put away the money they re talking about when we were younger. Our incomes combined are no where near what they say on that math table. One question is Where do they get those figuers from? i think the figueres are very unrealistic for the average canadian. The second question i have for the people who answer these questions here is how many people do you know make that kind of money compared to the amount of people you know that dont meet there combined income table.
if i save 400 mth ...can we get rich? i ve heard compounding interest works in time.....wife and i save ,,often. we r 28yrs old....i want to retire 50.. very rich!
How do you succeed in life when you have underachieving parents? I am 24 and I plan on doing a lot with my life. I want to start businesses, accomplish a lot and be able to retire at a relatively young age with millions if not billions of dollars. My parents on the other hand are not going for the same goals. My mom is in her late 40's and my dad is in his early 60's. Both have them have been in the same dead end situation for the past 20 something years and neither of them are going to be able to retire rich. My mom a hairstylist and my dad a car salesman. Neither of them have taken their profession to the max, and are still at the same begining level. Anyway, my dad always gives me advice when it comes to work, and criticizes me when I mention business ideas, or any idea that is different than having a basic 9-5 job for the rest of my life. My mom supports me but obviously doesn't have any great ideas. How do I personally succeed and still interact with my parents without telling them my plans and letting them interfere with my actions? The first 2 answerers completely missed the question. Way to go. Loveblue, there is a bit more to my parents than you think. For one thing, they are not honest, but they are hard working. They work hard towards the wrong goals in life. Instead of trying to be personally successfull, they work hard at fighting with each other and getting even with each other. Plus they spend tons of time and money battling in court with each other over silly arguements. My parents need a lot of help and it seems like they will never get over their problems. I respect them for the good they have done, its just that they don't focus their lives on becoming socially, personally, or financially rich. They focus on making each other miserable. I don't want a life like that.
HOW MUCH DO I SAVE TO BE RICH!!!? How can we get a rich billionaire to pay off our bills so we can do volunteer work? We are a couple and our daughter recently joined the peace corp. She is stationed in Benin, Africa. Her volunteering was a major inspiration for the both of us. So we sat down and thought about ways we could join or do something more rewarding in life by helping others. I mean we actually want to be able to do volunteer work on a full time job. The only problem is we have a house and bills that keep us from doing this. Granted our house is a small house not expensive and we have school loans to pay off. Around 250,000 thousand would pay all our bills and we could volunteer. At the same time after spending years volunteering we would have a place to retire. If we sold our house and volunteered then we would have no place to live when we returned. I mean what good would it be for us to volunteer for years and after we return be poor with no house and a place to live? So we sent letters just like this one to people who made the Forbes richest billionaires and guess what No one responde

Where is the best place to retire in Continental United Sates? My decision for re-retirement must be made with more consideration this time based on medical care availability, transportation, cost of living, cost of housing, security, leisure time activities. I retired here in the Philippines in 2000 but, due to the cost of living increasing here and non-available of medicare facilities, and security I must reconsider and try to find another place that offers more for retired people than Philippines, any help would be appreciated. I have pensions from Navy, and social security, but, I am not rich by any means, so economical solutions are a prime factor in furure decisions for re-retirement. True Philippines is lower cost than U.S. but, facilities are lacking for retired personnel, no senior citizen facilities, medical care under par, transportation for seniors non-existent, meals on wheels never heard of here, and other considerations must be made before going there this time.
How does a Special Education Teacher get rich? I just graduated in December and am confused with how to gather the proper work experiences that will increase my earning potential. Most districts will only pay about two thousand more for a masters degree in education. I love teaching but I don't want to work into my eighties before I can retire.
Did Carlton make a mistake not drafting Daniel Rich? Im not sure how good chris yarran will be, it may seem unfair to judge him yet, but I think carlton made a real blue not taking rich. Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Stevens is the core of thier midfield, but by the time they will be real contenders, stevens will be 34 years old, too old, possibly retired? Imagine Judd, Gibbs, Murphy and Rich, now that would be a premier midfield, possibly 4 brownlow medalists, and would be unstoppable. Agree?
Can anyone tell me how I can make a motivational / inspirational speech/ lecture in Los Angeles? I am a writer and have written a book recently on the thirty things everyone needs to know (and apply) in order to retire rich and early, besides leading a happy and successful life. I wish to teach in LA. How can I have an audience? I mean how must I go about to be able to get an audience so that I may lecture. Are there companies / firms/ organizers who accept new comers like me and organize an evening? I am extremely keen on teaching what I wrote. I have the gift of the gab and do not have a shred of doubt that the class/evening/show will go pretty well. Could you help me out guys, by telling me how I should proceed in this matter? Thanks in advance
If I kept my 12.4% social security tax how much could I retire on? http://www.lp.org/issues/social-security This site says I could retire rich. Should the Govt take 12.4% of my income each month that is for my retirement, spend it in ways I don't agree on and then may or may not give it back to me? Wouldn't be better for me to be in control of my own retirement? Yes, I have websites that make a few grand a month and I pay myself out of my Texas corp. and my husband is a contractor and we both pay ourselves through our texas corp. avg: 150k

Where is the best place live when you are retired? I want to live comfortably on a moderate income (not rich, not poor). I love the ocean, but enjoy the mountains and the desert as well. Where have you moved upon retirement or where would you retire to - and why?
Shame on the News channels for continued reporting about rich peoples homes threatened or burned by fire.? There is numerous fires going on in southern california. Thousands of homes are being destroyed by fire. The Malibu fire is just 1 small piece of it all. Yet the news channels keep talking about rich peoples homes. That is a discrace to all the normal average people who are losing homes. It makes me sick that some of my favorite news channels are making some big deal about a small small percentage of the problem. Most of these homes are not rich people like CNN, FOX, MSNBC would like to report. I'm a retired fireman and I've lived in so cal my whole life. These are not all hollywood stars homes like they are reporting. Shame on the news channels. If you are going to report like responsible reporters, do it without sensationalizing things. Most of these homes are not rich people. You are idiots and you can't even spell the names of the towns effected half the time.. Is there any other californians that have a comment about this?
What can I expect for health insurance costs as an early retiree? I'm 35 now and plan to retire around 40 or 41. I'm not exorbitantly rich, though; I've just saved enough to support my expenses and will do what I want instead of going to work every day. What I don't have a good handle on are my options for health insurance (before reaching age 65 and Medicare, or whatever age at which Medicare will be available in 30-40 years). Are there any in the industry who have seen similar situations and have suggestions about what to expect? Thanks, Doug The question is about what to expect for insurance costs between age 40 (my retirement) and 65 (transition to Medicare).
What books are the best to help you achieve success? I am currently 16 years old, a junior in high school. I have big goals for my life, which include becoming an anesthesiologist, as well as owning a car dealership after I retire from medicine. I am fortunate enough to know my goals in life early on. I would like to know what books will help me be smart with money (get rich) and achieve all my goals in life. I would also like some suggestions about how to communicate with people most effectively. I'm looking for actual book titles that will help, not just advice.
Birthday present for rich dad? It's my Dad's birthday again, and again my sister and I have no idea what to get him. We are both in our mid twenties, if it matters. The problem, that is always the problem, is that we don't like him or know him that well. Frankly, he doesn't like us much either, but we try to remain cordial at the very least. My sister took care of Father's Day, so I'm on Birthday patrol. Another thing is that he is, for lack of a better word, rich. He already has everything he could ever want, and god knows that anything we can buy him will never be better than anything he already has. So, I don't know what he likes and he doesn't need anything. Every Christmas, Birthday, and Father's Day, the same thing. What the hell do we get Dad? Any ideas? He's mid 50's, retired. We've given him plenty of pictures... he doesn't put them up anywhere in his house as far as we can see. Like we said, he doesn't like us. We doubt it's personal, but he's made it very clear over the years that he regretted ever having a family. We rarely speak.

IF YOU HAD THE CHOICE OF PEACE or the Choice of Going to War, which would it be? 1. Do you people really know the real truth of this Iraq War? 2. Time for Beyonce to retire? Am I the only person out there that thinks it is time for Beyonce to call the music thing a wrap? I am the biggest Beyonce fan but she is catching hell from all sides and sometimes it is just not worth it. She has tons of money, she is beautiful, young, rich, has a mogul man that gives her whatever she wants like cars ect., and she acts. She should walk away after the album that comes out this summer and tell the haters "see ya losers"
Guys, what is your opinion of my boyfs actions? My partner and I are both 28. We have been together 5years. I leave uni soon and will move out of my parents and he wont come with me and live with me / get a mortgage. This is because he wont get a job because he wants to make a living as an artist. He doesnt do any art though as he lies in bed until lunchtime like he is retired. His rich daddy supports him He said last night when I told him it wasnt good enough that he would not change or get a job ever.I said I would be on my own buying everything and he said i wouldnt be on my own forever andf I can find somebody else who works if I dont want to support him. he then became controlling saying we had other issues such as me speaking to other men on the phone ( he has a problem with me talking to people and they where colleagues i have to speak to) what do you think
Happened to you? I went to a restaurant one time in Virginia. a fancy little place right on the side of the mountain, a bunch of old retired rich guys. well right when we walked in we got funny looks. we told the man we had a reservation and he just sized us from head to toe leaned in close and said "we dont serve your kind" MY KIND?!! man how i wanted to pop him right in the mouth!!!! but my grandfather (celebrating his retirement) just handed the man 100 bucks and told him to seat us. reluctantly the man obliged. Once seated we were stared at the whole time!! Well they had a wine cart going around and my grandfather ordered Cabernet Sauvignon....$482.00!!! I guess that bought some respect because once he did no one continued to stare or rather glare at us. Has the world come to the point where you have to literally buy respect?
Why do rich people keep working...? If you have a billion dollars, and you keep "working" it makes me think that whatever you do to make money really isn't a job after all. I know the exact price it would take for myself to retire. I don't need/want a 100-room mansion or a fleet of bentleys. Do you have to be addicted to cocaine or yachts to stay in business? If you won 100 million dollars would you keep your day job?
How can I make my son rich? I have $5,000 to invest for my 2 year old son this year. I will be contributing another 5k/year on out. I can not open a Roth IRA for him since he is not earning any income. I don't want to pay taxes on the earned interest, nor do I want to receive only 5% from typical CDs, etc. Still, I want the investment to be relatively risk free. I don't expect him to cash out on it until he is retired. Any ideas? Thank you in advance Wow, thank you for the great answers. I even love the tongue-in-cheek responses. I can't pick a "best" answer, because I am going to combine the advice by - taking more taxes and risk and investing the initial money in a no-load mutual fund. I will reinvest it when he has accumulated enough for a 30% down payment + management expenses on a rental property, and repeat that method several times. With remainder money, I will invest him in Index Funds and CDs and even a few individual stocks. I will seek more advice regarding Charitable Remainder Trusts, as I don't fully understand them yet. Also, I should have mentioned this is separate money from his 529 plan, which his Dad funds weekly and friends and extended family contribute to via UPromise. Thanks again!
How do I make my teacher a rich millionaire by retirement?!? Okay, I got this finance project as an alternative project to what the class is doing because I am excelling in the class. I was asked to make a retirement plan for my teacher, who earns $43,000 a year, $75 a month goes to her Roth IRA and $75 a month goes to her 403(b). She owes $118,000 on her house, $10,000 on her car and $25,000 college debt. I can get more info if needed. Now the question is, how should she invest her money and in what should she invest her money to have a nice retirement. She is 25 and should retire by 65 or earlier. I have an idea of what she should do, but I am not familiar with Roth IRA or 403(b)... therefore, I am not sure how she should use those to her advantage. Thanks!

Who wants to give me $2 million (U.S. currency) for a Vanguard retirement account so I can retire? I've calculated what $2,000,000 in U.S. currency will generate over 40 years on an Excel spreadsheet. I would never have to work again. I would get out of the world's way and let it keep spinning around the sun. There has to be a multi-millionaire out there who can donate (Oprah perhaps) to my retirement so I can just better myself as a human being by working out, reading, and donating my time to helping out charities. I don't want the money to have money. I just want to pay the mortgage, the HOA, the bills, and buy food and clothing as needed - without having to work and deal with people who remind me of the movie Office Space. I want it so I can spend my time doing something truly important on this planet instead of just working for a paycheck. Anybody with a rich uncle or aunt, let me know. Forward this to them if you think they'd be interested.
Which state(s) have the worst people? In my experience: 1. Connecticut: Two words--"Yankee nutjobs." At least the former President Bush had enough sense to relocate to Texas! 2. Vermont: However cold the weather is, so are the people. 3. Kansas: You wouldn't expect to find such narcissistic, unhelpful jerks there. 4. California: Self-righteous, arrogant, impolite kook liberals. 5. Illinois, Arizona and Florida (tie): Old, retired, rich, crusty yankees. 8. Kentucky: OMG, WHAT A JOKE! Where "it's that friendly" is nothing more than a gimmick line to gamble at Keeneland. The worst (rudest) service I've ever received in retail AND dining were in Louisville and Corbin, respectively. I mean worst in terms of politeness, hospitality, etc.
