Retire Young Knowledge Base
Can you help me find a small town near the water in which to retire young? I am looking for a place in the USA with a population of 10,000 people or fewer. I would like to live near or on the water (ocean is ideal). I want the kind of place where there is no crime and everyone knows the waitress at the local pie shop. I have $1 million on which to retire at age 40. I am single, so it should not be for old married people.
Can I emmigrate to and retire young in Mexico? I am a 40 year old single male who inherited $1 million. Is that enough to retire in Mexico and live there without working? I would want a beach house in a civilized area (restaurants, theatres, etc.) Has anyone else done this? Do I have to give up my US citizenship (I do not want to do so)? That "Just leave" answer was hilarious!! I am laughing my ass off!! But I am looking for serious answers.
Why do players retire so young? Most players retire before they hit 40. Why do they retire so young? I dont think 45 is that old. But I do know by 35 the average human starts to break down Muscle Mass.
What age is too young to retire? Is 25 too young? 30? 35? At what age would it be acceptable for society to be able to accept? At what age is acceptable to you? Does the age vary with gender and health? e.g women at what age, disability and types e.g paralysis, cancer, etc? Does it depend what society/country you live in? Does it depend on the money/assets you have? What is the figure?
LDS/Mormons: A) Steve Young is retired from the NFL. Is he still a good authority on football? B) Russell M. Nelson is retired from medical practice. Is he still a good authority on medicine? C) Jeffrey R. Holland and David A. Bednar are retired from Academic Administration. D) Lastly, many users on this forum are retired from Mormon beliefs. Are they still good authorities on Mormonism? Avatar: If the "exes" never really understood it to begin with, then who's to say that the "immediate source" (those still inside the Church) really understands it either? Do you not think it's possible for someone who "really understands it" to decide to leave?
We are looking for a place to retire, low taxes, friendly people, healthy living, low crime..NOT in the South! Need a place with active, thinking, young minded early retired folks not the dead zone! Want the area to be affordable and not the country club set (been there, done that). Weather is not a big deal but within reason. If you need your own snow plow to live there, it will not work. I understand boomers are redefining areas to retire in soooooo, please share your ideas. College towns are good but population should be no more than 60 thousand as some level of quaint would be nice. A active downtown with cafe's, shopping, stores, galleries, evening entertainment (as well as local malls or strip malls) but a nice downtown would work for us. Please share your ideas as this may be YOUR question one day! Thanks.
What is the best way for a young financial advisor to partner with an older advisor who is looking to retire? I am a young financial advisor (currently studying for my CFP credentials) and I am very interested in partnering with another individual who has an existing practice (book of business) and is eventually looking to retire in the future. Right now there is a large demand by older financial advisors who are looking to partner with young advisors who will help them grow the business and eventually take it over upon retirement. I haven't found any good locations on the web (or live) to find these individuals or even places where I can learn more about this (i.e. blogs, chat rooms, etc.). If anyone has any information about doing this, please let me know. Are there any websites or chat rooms where advisors are currently partnering up with younger advisors?
Should I join the Air Force with a young child? Ever since High School I've been thinking about joining the Air Force since it provides excellent training, good educational benefits, health benefits, and if I work hard I can retire while still relatively young. However, everyone I knew always said not to join the military, so I put it off. However, I recently had my first child (she's about 6mo old), and so I'm thinking about it again since it provides a lot of security for her. Plus, and least I would get training and educational assistance that'll help me with a career outside the military, and at most it could turn into a career. I'm just scared that I might be jumping into something without really thinking about it, so can anyone give me advice? Like, should I wait till she's older? Or what would be the pros and cons for me joining? Should I do it at all?
Can I retire young in Mexico? I'm a 40 year old single male who inherited $1 million (USD). Is that enough to retire in Mexico and live there without working? I would want a beach house in a civilized area (restaurants, theatres, etc.) Has anyone else done this? Do I have to give up my US citizenship (I do not want to do so)? I would be willing to work to pay living expenses. I could teach English, for example.
Why football players so young do retire? Example: Zidane, Cafu, Rivaldo, Kahn, Nakata? P.S. why did Nakata retire and how did he get qualification to pursue a degree in business from Harvard? Yes, sorry I did some research and found that Kahn is still playing for his club team Bayern Munich. Also, I think Kahn was the goalkeeper during this world cup third place game between Germany and Portugal (which went in favour of Germany 3-1).
Which young stars will replace these current developed stars once they retire? Retiring young. How much money do you need to live good and enjoy life without financial worry? I am 56 with one child left in college. I am in good health and have quite a few interests. I would like to semi retire now with the idea of being completely out of the work force in 2 years. I like boating, cycle riding, would like to travel a lot more (my family is all over the place from Portland to Minnesota). My wife will retire as well, so we will lose both incomes, but we have no debt so I think we will be fine. I just want to be sure we have thought of everything.
I am too old to find a job and to young to retire. Are there other couples out there having the same problem? I can't help but wonder if there are other couples out there in my similar situation who could be so kind as to offer me advice on how to find employment. How are other senior citizens handling not finding jobs? I lost my job last December because of my age and made too much money. The employers of today do not seem to be senior friendly. Should my resume be written differently? Should I look out of state, if yes, How do I do this? Do other seniors have alternatives that maybe I am overlooking?

Do you want to retire young? What would you do with your time? My husband was saying that he doesn't want to retire. I'm a little on the fence. I would feel better if it's my choice. I don't like the idea of being forced to work when I'm like 80, if I make it that long. If you do what you love then what's to retire from?? That's fantastic. Sorry Kel. I hear you. I hope not.
Why did WWE Victoria retire, she still very young? I personally liked Victoria despite her being a heel and people booing her. Well, I just wanted to know your thoughts. I don't really understand and I didn't read the WWE magazine why she decided to leave WWE. Anyways, she was one of my favorite female wrestlers. :(
Why did Roberto Alomar prematurely retire during the 2004 season at the young age of 36? He had 2,724 hits? at the time he retired and was seemed destined for 3,000 in 2 more seasons and certainly a place in Cooperstown. In 17 seasons from 1988-2004 with 7 teams, Alomar had: 2,724 hits, 1,508 runs, 504 Doubles, 210 HR's, 1,134 RBI's and batted .300. Great stats, Hall of Fame numbers in my opinion, but why didn't he stick around for another couple of seasons to get to 3,000? Was he involved in steroid abuse allegations? I know he spit in that umps face in 1995 or something, but that wouldn't have caused him to retire, was he injured? He made over 76 million in career, so it wasn't about the money. I just don't understand why this guy didn't stick around for 3,000 hits? He was a switchhitter too and played 2nd base his entire career. Any thoughts here? http://www.baseball-reference.com/a/alomaro01.shtml Alomar had 10 gold gloves and 12 all-star game appearances, will he ever make a comeback to get to 3,000 hits? He is also a 2 time World Series winner, 1992-1993 with the Toronto Blue Jays, he's only 39 now, and will he make the Hall of Fame? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Alomar
Is 50 to young to retire? I'm trying to talk my husband into retiring next year so we can play and travel. I think its the perfect age because you still have a lot of good health and energy. Still young. What do you think? Yes I have enough money if I want to spend it but i dont want to wait until 60. If I didnt have the money I wouldnt even be thinking about it. thats not an issue. and we wouldnt be sitting around We would be traveling and playing.
Where is the best place in Oregon for a young retired couple with older teenagers? My husband is almost 53 and I am 45. After 35 years on the same job he is about to receive a "buyout" to retire early. We are selling our 2 Tri-plex rental properties that we have taken care of as our future nest egg for the past 22 years as well as our home that we custom design/built in 1992. California is too hot, dry, and the stress level of the "life in the fast lane" of the SF Bay Area has really gotten to us. We want cash out, sell everything, and move to Oregon and be retired. But where? We love trees, lakes, fishing and have just started to take up golf and tennis. We have 1 Jr. College age son and 1 High School Freshman daughter. (Our older daughter is already living on her own and in her senior year of college in California). Oregon seems to be much more affordable and more low key with less stress. Any suggestions?
why does it have to be a younger talent to retire flair why cant they bring in someone he used to feud with? i know that in the wwe its all about getting a guy over but i havent seen very many guys in the wwe today that would be worthy of beating flair for this honor.when he was in his prime he would wrestle 60 min matches and cage matches all the time.he and the rest of the guys would travel almost nonstop every day of the year almost until they was injured. he brought the world title to wwe when he jumped from nwa/wcw to wwe.he put guys over without him sting would not have gotten over as much. i dunno who from his past feuds could still compete but that would be the fair thing.
How and why should retired people reach out to young people now and in the future? Youtube features videos of a 78 year-old widower from England named Peter. His life story has meant something to many young people. Do you think other older people would enjoy telling their stories likewise? How can young people benefit from such goodwill? news article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060814/od_nm/life_youtube_dc Peter's youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=geriatric1927
How does a retired sorority girl make girl friends in the young professional world? I feel silly asking this, but I just graduated from university where I was a member of a sorority, and many other groups and organizations on campus. To say the least, I had an extremely close knit group of girl friends up there. We did everything together from movies to pubs, sporting events to amusement parks. I definitely feel like I've made friends for life. However, we're all now separated by a good amount of distance, but keeping in touch and visiting whenever possible. My question is, as a young professional fresh out of college and living hours away from some of my best friends, how do I go about making new, local female friends? This may sound lame, but I miss just going out and kicking back with a group of awesome girls, and find it hard now that I don't have the college social network to help me. Ideas from people who have been there? :)
Retired at 55 was it too young? I am 50 now, I have 5 more years to work before retired, still thinking that my employer got to revise the option for me to retired at 55, the union also have to do something, I think we can still contribute the service up to 60 above
The old Doctor & the young Doctor ok i am having a bad day but funny or not? One Day this old doctor decided he wanted to retire but he would have to train the young doctor to do house calls. The first day was a training day for the young doctor. the old doctor took the young doctor to one of his house calls he told the young doctor before they entered that the women who lived here was 50 years old and had a belly ache. The old doctor walked up to the women in bed, and lisened to her belly. He told her to lay off the fruit. As the doctors left the young doctor ased the old doctor how he knew the old women had ate a lot of fruit, the old doctor replied, he stumbled into the trash can filled with apple peelings. The next day the old doctor said its your turn. The old women they went to see today was about 60 she was always tired. the young doctor looked at her and said she had been work for the church to long. When they left the Old doctor asked how he knew that. The young doctor replied, the sunday school books and the preacher under the bed. the old doctor told the young doctor your goona make a fine doctor when I retire.
Should Sachin, Sourav, Dravid retire now? There are millions of youth are trying to get place in Indian Cricket Team. But When their dreams come true? I felt that, great legends - Sachin - Sourav - Dravid should retire now. They will give the chance to Young bloods. Are anybody feel like me? I also appreciate your views......
Drew Bledsoe??? Retire?? Ok, who thinks it's time for Drew to retire and the Cowboys to get a younger QB for a change? One who isn't hooked on crack, and doesn't throw an average of 3 interceptions a game? C'mon!
Some young people can be respectful right . . . ? Even those who brake the law are capable of good manners on occasion . . . If I had a pound for everytime I had to say "please don't call me miss, it makes me feel old" when I am at work, I would have been able to retire by now! Apart from your own kids has a random young person ever surpised you with a positive attitude - even if they were wearing a 'hoodie' and you weren't expecting it???
