Why Are Doctors Retiring Early? Someone told me once that medical doctors are retiring early in the U.S. due to the frustration of the very stern regulations & restrictions that the physicians have to abide by. Plus with the low reimbursements that the government & private insurance companies have to offer making it very difficult to stay afloat even in private practice & as a salaried doc in either GP or as a specialist! Is this true or false information?
Where can I find advice for retiring early and / or from the military? Every retirement article I read assumes you'll retire at 62 or 65. Between my investments and pension, I plan on being retired by the time I'm 50. However, I can't find any articles or any advice that address the kind of situation I hope to have: Good pension, TSP (401k) account, civilian employment for 4-5 years following retirement from the military (from ages 46-50). Any ideas?
How can you retire early without being a slave to a job? My husband and I want to retire early sail on a boat the rest of our lives and really do not want to be slaves to any low paying jobs. We both have different skills. He can work on anything. I am creative and have alot of artistic skills, lots of generic talents, but nothing that has materialized into a useful career. What should I consider doing if this is our dream?
What type of savings do I need to retire early? I'm currently saving in my 401k here at work, and by the time I retire in 35 years, I should have a sizable nestegg. I know all the cons to pulling out of that early, and want to avoid them. I'd like to start saving additionally for retirement, so I'd have the potential to retire early, but with no major drawbacks to pull on this money. What type of accounts should I get?
What is the best job to get rich and retire early? I've heard from quite a few people that network marketing is the best way to go if you want to get rich fast and retire early, but is there another better route? when i said best, I meant EASIEST and fastest.
Is there any way to avoid taxes on a Roth IRA if you plan to retire early? I read somewhere that you can withdraw yearly equal amounts from the Roth without tax. Is that true and is that what they do so you can retire early? Ok, I must not have been too clear. I know exactly what a Roth Individual Retirement Arrangement IS, and how it works. What I'm wondering is if they have a provision for early retirement. I'm assuming they don't since I can't find information about it. I just with I could use this vehicle for investing for an early retirement.
Would you work outside the home if you had enough money to retire early? No one in my office who is over 50 seems to happy to be there. Many of them have told me they can not wait until they turn 62 and can take Social Security. Many people in the office are hoping to retire before they are 62 and move to volunteer or part time work. They are burned out and show it! How about you? If you had the ability to retire from your job/career as early as 50 would you do so, if you could swing it financially? Or would you miss the gang at work and having a place to go to each day? At what age is early retirement a good thing or is it just a sign or lazyness?

Retire Aged Personnal Early. "rape"? As a result of the reduction of money budgeted for the Department areas, we are forced to cut our number of personnel. Under the new plan, older employees will be asked to accept early retirement, thus permitting the retention of younger people who represent our future plans. Therefore, a programme to phase out older personnel by the end of the current fiscal year, via retirement, will be placed in effect immediately. The programme will be known as R.A.P.E. (Retire Aged Personnel Early). Employees who are R.A.P.E.D. will be given the opportunity to look for other employment outside the company. Provided they are being R.A.P.E.D., they can request a review of the employment records before actual retirement takes place. This phase of the operation will be called S.C.R.E.W. (Survey of Capabilities of retired Early Workers). All employees who have been R.A.P.E.D. or S.C.R.E.W.E.D. may file an appeal with upper management. This will be called S.H.A.F.T. (Study by Higher Authority Following Termination). Under the terms of the new policies, employees may be R.A.P.E.D. once, S.C.R.E.W.E.D. twice, but may be S.H.A.F.T.E.D. as many times as the company deems appropriate. If any employee follows the above procedure, he or she will be entitled to get H.E.R.P.E.S. (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel's Early Severance). As H.E.R.P.E.S. is considered a benefit plan. any employee who has received H.E.R.P.E.S. will no longer be R.A.P.E.D. or S.C.R.E.W.E.D. by the company.

Why is shaun pollock retiring so early? he is only 24 for crying out loud and it's not like he can't ball anymore his balling could be a major asset to the crappy bowling of our team, and his batting is needed to provide support to the lower order... if this was baseball, he d be staying for at least another 7 years. I think that his retirement is very premature. any opinions sorry I meant 34
Lebron: " I see myself retiring in 5 or more years"....article inside? what do you guys think? http://www.clublakers.com/forums/lebron-i-see-myself-retiring-in-little-more-than-5-ye-t92675.html "Brian Windhorst Beacon Journal sportswriter: "Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James said last night that -- while he still plans on competing at the highest level possible for 5 years -- he is foreseeing a retirement in the next 5-6 years, a shock to many of the Akron native's fanbase. 'I'm looking to make an impact worldwide' James said. 'That way, the LeBron James brand will become bigger than nearly any other brand in the world.' James is stasticially having the best season of his career, but he previously said he would consider retiring early if the financial incentives were right. Since early on in his career, James made it a top priority to expand his image far beyond the basketball court, and judging by the looks of it, he is preparing to make a global push sooner than anyone imagined."
Where to save for early retirement? I'm almost 24 and I've saved about $20000 for retirement in my TSP and Roth IRA. Although my income isn't that high, I can easily save at least $10000/year, and I plan to save more than that as my income increases. I think that I may want to retire early, but with the TSP and Roth, I have to be 59 1/2 to make withdrawals. What type of account can I save in that will let me have access to some money sooner?
Which players do you think retired too early? I'd probably say Drew Bledsoe still had a good couple years left in him. Emmit Smith I'd say still could've had one or two more good years. Michael Irvin (but that dont really count as he suffered a career-ending injury, thanks to that one day in Phili). Oh and Terrell Davis. Can't forget him. Although, I can see why Bledsoe retired. Ever since Tom Brady replaced him, every team he went to he always got replaced.
What the best way to save for early retirement? I'm in my early 20's and I wanting to retire as early as possible say between 40 and 45. I know its a bit of a stretch but it could be done. Should I put all that i can into my 401k and IRA or should I put most in an account where there isn't any penalty for withdrawals since i would be retiring any where form 14 to 19 years before i start withdrawing from my 401k and IRA. If so what kind of account should i look into?
What is the best way to retire early? I max out my 401 k at work and they match 6%, I put the 5,000 max into a roth ira a year and save 10% of my salary a year. I only make about 90,000 a year. How can I make our life a little better now that I have retired quite early? I retired quite early bec. I had cancer before and I wanted more time for my family. My work in the office as a Corporate Executive Officer is quite heavy. I have responsibilities in the office which requires most of my time. And now that my kids are growing up I would like to be with them most of the time and also find time with my husband who's working in the province which is quite far from home. Although he comes home once every 3 weeks, I miss him most of the time. So how can I help in generating income but in a much simpler way so I can be with my family most of the time and a job that gives higher compensation? We want to go abroad (in New Zealand) so me and my husband can work there. I can get a much simpler job there and have more time with my family but our pending application there is getting us nowhere. Its more than a year now since we applied but due to the change in requirements, we had to reapply. I hope somebody could help us without asking for so much because we only have enough for our family. So for the meantime, what can I do here in the Philippines so we can still live our life a little better? Can you suggest any business that is not high risk, simple and with high income?
Many teachers are leaving education early on retirement why|? I am not a teacher and know that although they have an inflation proof pension it is heavily discounted (I refer to UK) if they retire early. Many of them are near or have a nervous breakdown or suffer stress illness, this is perhaps more so than many other professions. When are our so called politicians going to insist on an inquiry to discover the root course of the loss of experienced teachers especially as they are now rabbiting on about compulsory education until the age of 18>
Where to save to retire early? Where can I save money so that I can have access to it well before the age of 59 1/2? I am 24 and have saved up quite a bit in my 401K and Roth IRA, but I would like to possibly retire as early as 50, or maybe even sooner.

In early 20s and hoping for early retirement...? I’m hoping to get some realistic and sound advice on investing. I’m in my early 20s, and know that I would like to retire early, and be able to live comfortably along the way. I understand that because of my age, I can take more ‘risks’ in the investment category (rather then just buying government bonds), but I’m not sure where to start. I’m to busy to invest on my own (ie; e-trade, etc) so, I would like to find a company with a great reputation and even better ‘consumer reports’. If anyone knows of any good places to start, then please send the information on my way. Thank you! :-)
Early Retirement? My parents are 61 and they are planning to retire early at 62. How soon in advance to they need to apply for an early retirement? how soon will they start getting their checks after they turn 62? thanks
For early retirement, should I max out my retirement accounts or taxable accounts? I am 22, but I want to retire early. Something like 35 or 40 would be ideal. Right now, I'm maxing out my contributions to my Roth IRA and a Roth 401k, with money going into various stock mutual funds. However, I'm wondering if this is the way to go, as I understand that I can't even access my 401k account until turning 59 1/2 anyway. For my early retirement goal, should I continue to max out my retirement accounts, or scale some of it to taxable accounts? I recognize the tax advantages of the retirement accounts, but I'd also like to have money to draw on pre-59.5 yrs old. Thanks!
early retirement options? I'VE BEEN A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA FOR OVER 24 YEARS AND WOULD LIKE TO RETIRE EARLY LIKE TODAY IF I CAN...IS THIS POSSIBLE TO DO AND STILL MAINTAIN MY PENSIONS AND HEALTH AND DENTAL BENEFITS AS WELL AS THE OTHER BENEFITS..HOW DO I NOT LOOSE THESE......
Retired early-fourth-generation investment/brokerage industry-and ex-Marine-about Dinar? I am now looking for a different on-line (reputable) firm that allows me to trade stocks every 3 or 4 months or so, for the most part, some long-term-AND-allow me to buy some Iraqi Dinar, and just sit on it, Dinar, for 10 years. I have called and searched EVERYBODY from on-line, and in the phone book today. I hear from most that they do not also offer currencies, like my past on-line service-OR-from currency (Forex)-etc. places that they don't offer the Dinar-that it is deemed to be still too risky. By who? I will not be subversive and give my opinion on some things. But I do know a few service members and individuals that have the ACTUAL Dinar in safety deposit boxes, the Dinar is easy as hell to buy and have, but I do not wish to "trade-in" for dollars-due to "currency/counterfeit safety" bill exchanges, every two or so years, and pay taxes on it. I want a ten year hold on the Dinar, through an on-line (reputable) firm, that also allows me to trade my own account-taxes in ten? Any ideas as to help me achieve what I want would be much appreciated. The "trading world" huh? More like "double-tax for restructuring Iraq" for investors, world. Sorry, look at what we call the allowed offering of Pink Sheet stocks. Why not certificates held in sort of a "street name" status? Someone "world" and "trading" wise, please help me on my quest-any ideas? Well, you get one star-for your answer of my wishes incapability. The safest way is through the U.S> treasury...sheesh
Pay off debt slowly or retire early? I am coming into a lump sum of money, and have been wondering if its smarter to pay off all debts I have now or invest the money and pay debt off later when my investment is enough to retire on.
I want to retire early & live comfortable, any detailed suggestions? I'm 24, married with 3 kids, doing online sales business at home & my husband is an engineer. Its not so easy to save lots of $$, as I have 3 kids & hope to have 2 more but I do save about $400- $500/month. I have savings insurance for myself & kids. Own a 4-room & a car. Any suggestions?
Has anyone successfully retired early to write? Circumstances: middle class, employed, want to give up job, have some property I could sell, am willing to be poor but not totally destabilized. Has anyone managed this by selling property/buying annuity, moving to less-expensive foreign nation, or other tactic?
Question for EARLY retirees? This is only directed to people who have retired at a young age, either expectantly or unexpectantly (but NOT the result of having a child). How old are you? How were you able to retire early? What do you do with your time now? Are you more active or less active than when you were working? Are you happier now? Thanks in advance
should the President retire early? I voted for this man twice but I dont know what he is anymore. he has been a big dissapointment and he is very close i think to betraying this country as a whole. i am heart sick about this I still would not have voted fot kerry or the enviro nut who lost his home state , but this is terrible. let Chaney or Condi take over for the remainder of the term .
