  1. im not sure i would say no though
  2. You cannot both disability benefits from the social security administration and collect retirement benefits from the social security administration. Youu may be able to collect disability benefits from the state government and/or from private disability insurance and still collect retirement benefits from SSA.
  3. If your mother files for SS disability and receives it, it will stop when she applies for SS retirement benefits. If you are eligible for SS retirement benefits you generally cannot collect SS disability benefits. SS retirement generally pays higher benefits anyway so nothing is lost.
  4. You cannot get double benefits, if that is what you are asking. If she receives disability benefits, when she is qualified to receive retirement benefits, she will receive retirement benefits instead of disabiltiy benefits. She will not receive both at the same time. She does not forfeit SS retirement benefits by getting SSDI. She should not be forgoing disability benefits by thinking that her retirement benefits will be reduced, that is not true.
