Is RRSP considered a retirement plan?

I need to fill out a form asking if I have any retirement plans. I have RRSP, but is that a retirement plan? I live in Canada, by the way.

  1. An RSP is PART of a retirement plan. A retirement plan is more like what you intend to do in your retirement years, how much income you will need to support that lifestyle and how you will amass the savings you need in order to be able to retire according to the lifestyle you desire. Good for you to already have an RSP. That's a great start
  2. Having a RRSP is not a retirement plan. The question that is being asked in this case seems more like an opinionated question, asking how you will save for retirement, and not asking how much you have saved, unless you have changed the question around (re-worded it). In regards to an RRSP, if you are in the lowest tax bracket (less than 35000 or so), I suggest you stop putting money into the RRSP, as it is a waste. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
