How much money have you saved towards retirement so far?
I'm interested in knowing where we stand in terms of saving for retirement compared to others folks (especially in our age/income range). I'm willing to share my info if you share yours as well. Married couple, age 34, $170k annual income (one employed worker, other is a homemaker). 401k: $201k IRA: $25k I currently put the legal max in the 401k and tend to max out the IRA. Right now, we are passionate about making extra house payments to pay off our 30 year loan within 10 years. Just curious how our money saved so far compares to others. What are your stats?

- nothing. its not the brightest i know. but at te rate of american getting and dying from cancer, heart disease and the vioent surge in crimes, i feel secure that i probably wont even make it to retirement.LOL.
- Married 37/30 First off we pay as little on our mortgage as possible. At 5% interest, every investment we have makes at least twice that. We consider that a free 300k to make 5-10% on. Roth: 22k & 25k Ira: 65k Sepa:12k Stocks & Mutuals: 200k last time I looked it over. Business Owner and Full Time worker, probably average$120,000 a year. We are passionate about investing. This doesn't include the business's value. Hope this helps.
- 39 years old....260,000
- We are a married couple in our mid 30's. I stay home with the children and my husband works outside the home. My husband makes approx. $75,000 per year. He is self-employed so we must pay our own medical insurance, life insurance, etc... We own several rental properties worth approximately $600,000 total and this is what we consider our retirement account. We have approx. $30,000 in savings and CD's as well. Our home mortgage will be paid off in 9 years and all our rental properties will be paid off in 13 years.
