Do you save enough for retirement?
Since we cannot rely on Social Security (especially since Bush wants to privatize it) are you saving enough for retirement? - do you put in the max amount in your 401K? - do you have a Roth IRA or some type of investment on your own?

- Yes I invest in drugs, loose women, and guns. I figure that with these I'll have enough money for as long as I live.
- I found a good calculator on this site that allows you to enter how much you want in retirement and how much you have in savings then figures out if you have enough! http://www.eckleswealth.com/ Pretty cool!
- I save the maximum amount every month. It has long been my financial philosophy to never count on social security and never count on the government as a source of survival assistance when I'm old and need money the most. I have a regular IRA, a Roth IRA and the good fortune to be married to a lady who is also a saver, not an elaborate spender, and we use a financial planner to place any extra earnings in a way that benefits us best over the long term.
- 1. I put max into 401k 2. I put money in IRA 3. I put money in Savings 4. I put money in UVL 5. I put money in the market a cash account
- I am a teacher, so I pay into my state's retirement system. I also have a Roth IRA that I put as much in as I can and a 401(k) from my previous job. I also have some savings in a mutual fund as well as a good 7-8 months of take-home pay in a savings account at ING Direct yielding 4.35%...not bad.
- Yes to all of the above. I have tried to be smart with my money. I would be considered a fiscal conservative. I have one credit card that I pay off each month. I have a diversified portfolio of mutual funds. I participate in my company's 401K and I have an IRA. I'm still concerned that I won't have enough to live like I want when I retire but I also have a job that would allow me to make some extra cash when if I needed it later.
