Is it worth it to save money? The wants of now, saved for the future?

The question is,. is it worth it saving up that big amount of money for retirement? It seems that so many times people simply save up the money and when they retire spend it on the things they wanted when they were younger- a new sports car or a weeklong cruise to a beautiful island. I'm not saying you have to be young to enjoy these things, but it sort of makes you think, should I just spend the money now, at this age? Mostly when a young dude buys a tricked out car it's to look cool and to attract he ladies. It works a lot. When an old man buys that same car he wanted as a young man, a lot of times people describe him as going through a midlife crisis. So what's your opinion? Is it worth it to save the money? Or should it be spent in the here and now?

2. Save some and spend some. Find a good financial adviser and have them help you set up a plan. The younger you start saving the less you actually have to save because of the compound interest your investments will earn. I would rather spend my retirement owning and doing things that I find enjoyable instead of living from social security check (if SS still exist then) and eating cat food to survive.
3. Yes, save SOME now. Set up a 401k at work or an IRA. Live with moderation, not in excess. You may live to be old and you do not want to live in poverty when you are old. Your health problems will be enough problems. Think- Do you really want a woman who likes you for your car? There are plenty of women out there who would like you with a reliable mode of transportation.
4. Hello, I have two opinionated answers, Yes and No it is worth it. Because I feel that when people save for their future or retirement, they don't save enough. Most of the time an averaged person go into debt while they're young and barely have enough to enjoy for themselves at that time. That is why the money that they did save up for their future retirement goes on things they always wanted in the past. My strategy that I am using allows me to save for different areas in my life for now and my future. You must have a goal and a plan to accomplish anything.
