  1. absolutely
  2. if you're going to food shopping, how exactly do you intend to carry 10 shopping bags on your bike? Inevitbly there are going to be things I need to transport between the town and my home which cannot be carried on a bike. I live 5 miles from the nearest town, public transport costs £5 single there and only comes once every hour. Make a SENSIBLE suggestion please.
  3. definitely more fun good exercise can go anywhere, people always complain that they are fat WELL....... do something about it!!!! get some exercise, save the ozone, and while youre at it hug a tree
  4. sure. why not? you can have a hell of a great time too. heres sumthin interesting: 1 gallon of gas takes a car on average about 25miles. the amount of calories in that same gallon of gas can fuel a person to ride a bike over 600 miles. so ride to your destination if it close enough.
  5. Why the bike hatred??? Is it really so troubling that the bike on your right might keep you from getting your SUV to the gas station 15 seconds sooner? Yes, absolutely we should ride our bikes more. We live in the age of oil and we've been conditioned to believe that we need cars. Um, not exactly. For 75% of trips made in this country, the bicycle would suffice quite nicely. Lose the car. You don't need it. It only took me about a month to realize that 7 miles in a foot of snow is a pleasure, not an impossibility. You'll quickly realize the same.
