retirement oz

do you think you will ever be able to afford to retire, or will you have to work until you die?

  1. I retired at 53. Keep working until you have six to twelve times your annual salary in savings or are eligible for a pension for at least 70% of your current salary. As long as you have kids at home or in college, keep working! Until you have vested benefits, especially health benefits, keep working. Put at least 20% of your income into savings if you are still working. Remain as physically active as possible -- strive for at least 40 minutes a day of vigorous exercise. See your doctor regularly. 2. somewhere in between, retirement is not going to be terrible because i am a teacher, but i have to work hard now to make enough for my bills. must... finish..... graduate school...........
  3. i have this bad feeling i'll be working til i die and even after i die, i'll be buried in debt. i feel sorry for whoever has to pay that after i die.
  4. Well i am hoping that my kids make so much money that i can retire off of them. Or maybe i will win the lotto. or maybe my moms writing will take off and i can be her manager. Becuase really....who can retire comfortable besides millionairs
  5. It depends upon how much money it is going to cost to live, how much is in savings to make up for a lower income and if I decide I really enjoy eating and having my own home. Right now, no I cannot afford to retire, so will have to work.....
  6. the best way is to set up a retirement plan, i had friends who started at 18!! (that's smart)
  7. nope, i will never retire, because i am not going to live long enough to get to retire, which is fine with me.
  8. I'm in the "work till I die" group! It ain't fun.
