At what age do you think people should retire from work?

Public Comments

  1. 35 :-)
  2. never at the rate SS is going
  3. as young as they can
  4. 60 you have done enough by then and deserve to enjoy life without the presure of work
  5. 49 - 'cos then I can retire in 2 months time.
  6. As early as possible because life is too short to work.
  7. as soon as they can, if they are not happy. My dad did after 40 years and then my mom died of cancer 6 months after. They had all these plans.
  8. It depends on the person and the type of job. Fire and Police tend to retire early becuase of the type of physical job they do (and then usually go off to pursue second careers). It also depends on how well you've saved for retirement.
  9. i think if they are poor 70. but if they are wealthy then 50
  10. 38
  11. Since people are living longer, I'd say 70 would be a good age to retire. You would still have 10 - 15 years of retirement years to travel, cruise, and be a snowbird. I know a lot of folks that retire, and then return to the workforce again at minimum wage. Rediculous.
  12. They could retire at 60, but for those who want to keep working, I'd say 70-75 years old.
  13. When they have enough savings / pension funds to keep them going. The earlier the better of course :)
  14. AT THE AGE OF 40 SO YOU CAN DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT 2 DO THATS WHAT LIFES MEANT TO BE LIKE WHO EVER INVENTED WORKING HATED LIFE
  15. 31 sounds a blinking good age to me ;-) i wish
  16. i dont care so should u! age has nothing to do with it lv 'srength ..stems from within, lv ur self &ur ur lved ones wow u r it!!
  17. I think they should work as long as they want to; unless they wouldn't be able to perform they job or put other's lives at risk. I know far too many people who retire, sit around the house all day or make life miserable for others, and/or get into other people's business because they have nothing else to do all day. I wish they would volunteer or something.
  18. Any age as long as you've got enough money to keep you doing the things you enjoy.
  19. 212 seems to be a ripe old age for retirement & if lots of people work until that age & pay NI & Taxes some of us could retire on a reasonable pension at around 50.
  20. If one could choose then sixty would be a decent age - still a bit of time to do the things that time does not permit when you are working. You need to have a good pension by then
  21. as soon as you are eligible to get govrnment benefits for life.
