retirement oz

Should I work after retiring from the military?

I retired from the military i draw a pension of $3500 per month. I don't have any bills except utility bills. I'm 52. My significant other wants me to go back to work, she works a fulltime government job and her net income per month is around $3000. Our house is paid for all of our vehicles are paid for and oldest is 2 years old. I don't want to go back to that 9-5 every weekday grind that i put up with for over 30 years. I just want to be retired to do things i haven't been able to do for years. Am i being a selfish bastard or is she being overly demanding. Maybe i should just leave her with everything and start a new life elsewhere.

  1. Or, maybe you should tell her to "Shut the hell up and go to work". As far as I'm concerned, you've paid your dues bro. Kick back and chill. And if she don't like it, she can leave. Or, make her take some time off, and go on a 1 month vacation somewhere. They've got cool travel packages for old folks your age. No disrespect, I'm just saying, "You old ones can get the hook up."
  2. HI HONESTLY MY VIEW IS YOU DID YOUR TIME SO YOUR RETIREMENT IS FOR YOU , IT APPEARS THERE ISNT A NEED WHY SHE WANTS YOU TO WORK SO I WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME CUZ SHE STILL HAS TO WORK SHE MIGHT BE A LIL JEALOUS TRY COMUICATING WITH HER TO FIND OUT. BUT I ADVISED TO LIVE IT UP I AM IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND WILL RETIRE AROUND 50 I PLAN TO DO ALL THE THINGS I WONT DO BY THEN GOD BLESS
  3. Why should you leave her with everything after you worked so hard to earn it? That isn't even reasonable. You should work at something just so you won't be bored to death at home. That's great that you have a pension but time and unforeseen occurences can sometimes result in a need for more medical costs that you didn't anticipate and factor into your earnings. So, take some time off a year or so and then get back into things. You will go stir crazy with nothing productive to do at home.
  4. Congrats. on your retirement!!!!! If you both are not in need of money, then why is she so adimant about you going back to the work force????? oooorrrrr maybe she would like to be home with you too???? MMMM???? Need to ask her some questions! Enjoy your retirement, we never know how long we will live a healthy life!
