- Do a transfer you more than likley not lose your rank as to what paperwork call the coast guard command center they will tell you hope this helps an god bless you for you service
- why would you want to??
- Think a recruiter would have the answers. http://www.gocoastguard.com/ has recruiter contact info http://www.uscg.mil/ .
- Ask your Battalion or Brigade retention NCO, they should be able to hook you up. But a branch transfer, different MOS?... you'll have to re-train and take a rank reduction for sure. Why not go Army Reserves and keep it all? Good luck! ~HeadHunter 7
- When I was thinking of getting out of the Army, they were advertising positions on Monster and other web sites aimed at former military based on your former rank. The link sent you to a web site run by the CG where you filled out an application. Overall the process is different then a transfer in the Military because CG is DoT. I decided to stay Army so I never made the change.
- You don't. You can not retire after 20 years in the Army and join the Coast Guard or any other branch of the military. In fact, the USCG will not take anyone with over 13 years of service in any other branch.
