  1. Find a little hidden town in the middle of nowhere. Its the best I can think of.
  2. Lots of people say the house values are good in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas and Tennesee. There is also a sense of community in many southern towns. Also, I knew an old widow who would never be able to afford assisted living and she said she liked nice downtown places in Las Vegas or Reno, because you can walk to everything you need and casinos have really cheap meals.
  3. Mexico...aint too many ppl down there anymore.
  4. down in the south like from FL to TX GA SC TN there are some good cheap places
  5. In Haiti
  6. Thailand!!!!! Thailand has a rich culture to offer and a positive environment. The exchange rate of Baut to Dollar is $ 0.38. Which means one can have an extravagant living for $ 30,000 a yr. Example expenses: Rent $ 500.00 Month Scooter $ 4.00 a day Eat $ 3.00 Breakfast, $ 3.00 Lunch and $ 5.00 Dinner Medical is said to be exceptional care. Enjoy!!!!
  7. I retired to SE Asia, but that's not for most, especially if you have family. Middle America is probably cheapest, but do you want the lifestyle. Sometimes cutting back on your standard of living, but staying near the things and people you want in your life is a better idea. Good luck.
  8. Don't move away from family and services - if you become ill in later life or loose your partner, you will find yourself alone and disconnected from appropriate supports.
  9. In a place or city where there is a good hospital near where you live. Being old means your need for healthcare and hospitalization is inevitable. Don't live alone in some remote place. You could be murdered and no one will know.
  10. Missouri....the cost of living here is very low....and there are plenty of things to do. If you enjoy art and cultural things, St. Louis is a great place to enjoy that type of thing. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are too many lakes and streams to count. Lots of camp grounds and nature activities. A three bedroom house here runs about $100,000 ( give or take $30000 either way )....so if you already have a house you could sell it, move here , and use the leftover money to enjoy your retirement.
