retirement oz

Where does Rich Franklin go from here?

After Rich's devastating loss to Anderson Silva what do you think he will do next. He can't hang around in the middleweight division for Silva to lose the belt. Do you think he will move up to light heavy or maybe retire?

  1. I think there are other middle weights that Rich Franklin should fight like Nate Marquardt, Travis Lutter, Drew McFedries or even Chris Leben I honestly think he should have fought a few more fights before they threw him in with the Spider again.
  2. Rich's problem is that he is a GIANT 185er but would be a small 205er. He used to fight at 205 and came down because he wasn't big enough. He's liek Dan Henderson only Dan's wreslting allows him to exist on an even keel with many of the bigger LHWs. Rich at LHW would be a disaster, he would never make it to the top, he'd be a low top 10 guy instead of a Top 3, 4 or 5 guy at MW. He certainly won't retire though, his ego alone probably won't let him retiure becasue he couldn't beat one guy. It is fairly obvious that after his two destructions at the hands of Silva, he has fallen way down the ladder. He will basically serve as a gatekeeper unless he chooses to go to the WEC or some other organization. Rich's best hope is actually that Henderson comes down to 185 and beats Silva which would breathe new life into Rich's career. Other than that, Rich needs to sit and wait for Anderson to lose because the UFC likely cannot sell another Silva/Franklin match, even if it is LITERALLY in Rich's backyard and Jorge Gurgel is the guest referee.
