retirement oz

should joe torre retire after this year? he has done it all in his career.?

at his age, and the fact that steinbrenner is never satisified not winning the world series, should he slow down retire, and become a broadcaster part time? i am yankee fan, but am realsitic and cannot see the yankees winning the series this year with the lousy pitching they have! and who needs the jerk steinbrenner to keep whining? torre has 4 titles and 7 appearances! time to retire i think! yankkes won't win the series for several more years!

  1. he ought to move to another team and see if he can win it all without a 200 million dollar payroll.
  2. He just signed an extension. If he goes it will be out on top with a WS win. At that point he will have 5 rings.
  3. whoa whoa wait a sec... dont forget, its not mostly the manager's fault. i mean look at jack mckeon, he was what, 75? when the marlins won the world series. Joe torre is only 66 he still can manage til hes 70
  4. only he can answer this question
  5. No i think he should go as long as he can and wants to.
  6. i don't think joe should retire, and in fact i think he has something to prove to steinbrenner and to the baseball world that he still has what it takes to get it done...has he done it all? probably...does he need another world series to validate his career as a manager? probably not...but i think he feels like he needs to prove that he can still manage the most storied franchise in sports history
  7. if Joe Torre was managing an orginization, other than the Yankees, he wouldn't be worth a crap. He always had the big money saving his butt. Imagine him managing the Devil Rays or the Royals or the Pirates. Do you think he would have kept his job for more than 2 years?????????????.
  8. I would move on if I were him. The Yankees just cant do anything ever since Jeters head got so big.
  9. hmmmm. life after baseball,is it possible,no, he should not retire ,stay in the game like casey stengel and make you leave, joe torre is a great manager.IMAGINE managing millionaires
  10. I think he should retire. He has made some pretty bad decisions, including making unnecessary pitching changes that wind up costing them the game. He picks his favorite players and over-uses them, sometimes to the point of destroying their arms (i.e., Villone, Quantrill, Sturtze, possibly Proctor - hopefully not!) I have often questioned whether he is going senile! To ruin those pitchers by over-using them and then to take out a starter who is doing just fine in the 7th or 8th inning does not make any sense to me. And that's not even getting into his insistence on putting Bernie in the field instead of at DH last year, when his playing in the field regularly cost the team precious outs. It's sad to say, but I think it's time for Torre to move on.
  11. why retire he is sitting on a gold mine the owner pay large bucks for the team to go to the playoffs and lose.
  12. He should manage until they fire him..why give up that salary?
