- Invitations: cut in a circle with the map of the world drawn on one side and the details on the other. For example, boarding time = time to arrive, take off = time for activities to start etc. Destination= your address Decor: Decorate in an airport lounge with a waitress or airline stewardess providing cocktails to everyone on arrival. You could use assigned seating and issue everyone a "boarding pass" where they're to go sit. Make a poster with a fictitious airline company logo. In the main area use a map of the U.S., and flags from states they fly to. You can decorate the main eating area with a small suitcase packed with sunglasses, passport, towel, bathing costume, book etc. Use this as a center piece. Food: Separate guests into a drinks, then food section. If it's a BYO Dish you could assign people a state that SW flies to- I.E., if they fly to Philadelphia, have them bring something Philly is known for.. Texas- you could have BBQ.. Or do something similar for the menu. Is there a favorite state the pilot liked to fly to? Use that and base a menu off of it! Good luck!
- Depending on their sense of humor, you could have like a "Gilligan's Island" thing, except it was a plane instead of a ship. You could call it "Joe's (whatever their name is) Island". Tropical theme, tiki torches if it's outside, drinks out of coconut halves, make the guest of honor wear a hula skirt or something. Have the cake be a Southwest Airlines plane flying over an island or something. "Just when you thought it was safe to go into retirement, that fateful final flight brought you here to Joe's Island!"
- airplane cake and make him cut the wings off
- name that beep on the raidar, or or play TopGun and fight with the traffic tower
