  1. give him something like the playkool fire trucks
  2. A fire truck cake.
  3. 101 Dalmations.
  4. Go to a trophy shop and see if they'd do a custom style trophy of a fire fighter figure, you could go that route.
  5. A replica of a sliding pole in porcelain
  6. A gold lighter?
  7. get a firehouse sign..the maltese cross with his name on it..or an old one....
  8. fireman sam to the rescue! some kind of classy gift, but something fun, visit www.iwantoneofthose.com trust me...
  9. A picture book would be good, This could include pictures of his family, friend, the fire house and such. You can also have everyone sing it.
  10. make him something...an album or frame a special photo
  11. Rescue Me DVD's - It's an awsome series and fireman would enjoy.
  12. Expensive Bonzai tree - and a watering can . Choose the can carefully. Say on the card that he can find a different use for the water now - or something to that effect ! Or...a DVD of Man on Fire
  13. Ask his wife what he would enjoy as a gift, make it fun!
  14. You could get him a trophy that says something like, "World's best Fire fighter", or you could get him a painting, a watch, music cds, (normal b-day stuff cause he's human too!) There is one site that sells a lot of fireman stuff, check it out here: http://www.thefirestore.com/?gclid=CNSf_MPcyIwCFQfxgAodSD-Nlg
  15. I don't think it really needs to be something having to do with firefighting.. after all, this is the job he's leaving and I'd want to give him something more personal and having to do with his future not his past. The one thing that I keep thinking of is that he will have time on his hands and probably be taking up some hobbies (or already have some). If this is your best friend then I bet that you are aware of at least a few. 1. Does he golf? There are a huge array of golf items available (some in brass). Or if you want to get especially extravagant give him six months or a year gift certificate to a golf club. 2. Does he run or workout? Give him a runners watch or a sports watch (waterproof watches are great). There are a huge array of watches out there that are fantastic and read everything from the wind to a person's kidney function (well, maybe not that). 3. Does he grill out? You could get him expensive grilling tools and a couple month supply of Omaha Steaks (or one of those that gets delivered to the house). 4. Bocce ball? There are classy sets out there... As well as dominoes and everything else. If he's a gamer you might think of those. I guess I'd simply concentrate on his free time and then study his hobbies. (I love the grilling idea the best, it's unique and the gift that keeps giving).
  16. a plague with a fire truck and his name on it
  17. make a mug that says best firefighter or buy one
