What are some good home based businesses? (Candle, home items, jewelry, etc). I know of Avon, MaryKay, Tupperware and Pampered Chef.

Arts and crafts are great for the EXTREMELY talented, and even then location and technology can make or break someone like the proverbial pop-sickle stick. Selling manufactured goods out of catalogues can make for some okay winter holiday shopping money, but doesn't qualify as a reliable source of income in my book. Unfortunately, short of winning the lottery, there are no easy fixes. My suggestion is to focus in on your education and find a way to sell yourself, so to speak, like the rest of us. Service industries' on the up and up; in fact, someday people will probably have to move to other countries to find manufacturing/production jobs. But the good news is, the higher one's education level, the better chance one has of making a real living in the U.S. So, wait, why are there homeless people with Ph.D's? Sorry, I digress.

YOU don't make a lot of money selling for other companies.You make money selling your products you bought wholsale.Figure what people want that don't cost to much. Set up a party program so others can see what you have. you can set up sales people to give parties.or let them buy from you direct.

  10. Well, in order to 'make it' doing a home based business, you still have to WORK at it. Making money is not easy. You have to first BELIEVE in the product you are selling. So start there! What are your hobbies or what do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Answer that question, then find a home based biz that does that. For instance, i love to scrapbook, write stories and take pictures.   15. There are so many ways to make money from home, it can be overwhelming if you don't know what you really want. What I mean is this. Are you starting a home business because you want to spend more time with your family? or Are you starting a home business because you want more control over the income generated from it? After 5 years of owning my own accounting business, I decided to work for another company who will let me keep my clients but work as an employee for them. That way, my income is now consistent and I don't have to focus so much time on billing(facing the clients that make every excuse not to pay). And of course it allows me some time and money to start an internet business on the side. Sometimes a home business can actually invade your family time. After all, it's in your home. Knowing these answers first will help you in deciding what you want to do. Sometimes it's not a good idea to try to turn a hobby into a business because what you once did for fun now becomes...work. >:( So then the plan turns to generating more money so that you can do your favorite hobbies, etc. So find out what you want.
