Any creative ideas on fall/halloween crafts to do at home with a 2 and 4 year old?

I am a stay at home mom and I was wondering if anybody had quick and creative craft ideas to do for fall/halloween. I have a messy two year old and a four old who loves to be creative on her own terms. Thanks for your ideas :)

  2. you can go to www.orientaltrading.com. They have tons of neat crafts you can order or you can just get ideas from them and buy the stuff yourself.
  3. make a big tree out of construction paper and then have them make leaves with their handprints (you can even do it like a calender and have them put up the leaves as the days go, numbering the leaves as you go along). sticker art, little ones love stickers - though the 2 year old may still be a little young. make cookies and have them decorate them - you can usually find really neat halloween jimmies at the grocery store or michaels/joann's. cut out 2 big paper pumpkins and give them some black (washable of course) paint to make faces (the 2 year old will probably not make a face, but will have a good time playing with the paint)... you could do witches or monsters too that's all i can come up with off the top of my head
  4. Salt PLAYDOUGH RECIPE You will need: 1/2 cup salt 1 cup flour 1 tablespoon cream of tartar 1 tablespoon oil 1 cup water food coloring What to do: Combine ingredients in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring all the time. When the dough has a good consistency, take it off the heat and allow to cool. ************************** Tools: food coloring plastic disposable gloves Lolipop stick pretty ribbon Fine point magic marker cookie cutters in leaf forms dough can be colored with food coloring, but you will want little people to wear gloves then. This dough dries hard. Make Grandma a hand print holiday ornament. make a round circle with dough - let child do it. press hand in. after done make a "flat area on one side for later writing childs name on." stick a lolipop stick through top of ornament to make hole for pretty ribbon. Let dry over night. Write childs name and date or to Grandma or whatever on it. Let child decorate it. roll out dough flat , with hands, cut out leaf designs. stick hole in end to hang. ******************************** make your own water colors to paint with...... 1 Tbs white vinegar 2 Tbs baking soda 1 Tbs cornstarch 1/4 Tbs glycerine Styrofoam egg carton Red, yellow and blue food coloring 1. Mix vinegar and baking soda together in a small bowl. 2. When mixture stops foaming, add cornstarch and glycerine, mixing well. 3. Pour mixture into carton 4. Add several drops of a different food coloring to each carton cup. Stir until the color is well-mixed. Be sure to add plenty of coloring, since the tint will lighten upon drying. Mix primary colors to make secondary colors. For intense colors, add kool-aid. 5. Let set overnight to harden. Paint Away! *************************************** Homemade Ice Cream Here is a guick recipe to keep the kids busy and provide them a delicious treat! 1/2 cup milk 1/4 cup half and half 1 tablespoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 sandwich size Ziploc bags 1 one gallon size Ziploc bag 2 cups ice 1 tablespoon coarse salt 1. Put one small Ziploc bag inside the other then add the milk, half and half, sugar, and vanilla extract to the inside bag. 2. Remove excess air & seal both bags. 3. Add the ice and salt to larger bag and place smaller bag inside. Seal firmly. 4. Now it's time for the kids to shake, rattle & roll the baggie. Ice cream will be ready to eat in 5-10 minutes
  5. i take care of my 4 year old sis, so what we did was make frames for pictures out of cardboard, hand paint, and construction paper. It was really fun. I also had her finger paint. We did it 2gether, then we had a paint fight. But it was all water proof, and fun!
