i am retiring on a disability pension... am i required to pay taxes on it?
i am currently receiving social security disability & know i do not have to claim the pension (to social security) as it is considered unearned income. the pension i will be receiving is not state, federal or government in nature, however i will be retiring about 16 years before my full retirement age.

- Yes, you are required to pay taxes on the disability pension if it takes your total income above the amount that requires you to file. And depending on the amount of your total income, if it's high enough, some of your social security payments could also be taxable.
