Did you know that Jelena Dokic is retiring?!?

Isn't that unfortunate? She's really talented in my opinion, and it'd be a real loss if she retired so early. She's the same age as Kim Clijsters, but the main difference would be what they've accomplished. I read in Wikipedia that she's been having a wrist injury, so it might be the main reason why she's retiring. The other reasons might be her lack of accomplishment on the tennis court, I mean, from someone in the Top 5 of the world, playing Grand Slams, now having to play in $10,000 events (due to a drop in the ranking, to 600s I think) and on top of that losing in those small events. Do you agree, or do you have other theories? Maybe some of it is Damir's fault.. There are some of you who don't know who Jelena Dokic is, which I think really is the cause of her considerable drop in form. She is a former world No. 4, a former Wimbledon semifinalist. In her first Wimbledon, she beat then-No. 1 Martina Hingis 6-2, 6-0 in the first round en route to the quarters. The last time she accomplished anything was 2003, I think, when she beat No. 1 Clijsters en route to the Zurich final. After that, her ranking kept dropping and the last time I heard it was around the 650s. If you followed tennis only after 2004, then chances are you don't know her.

2. i didn't even know she was still playing and i think lack of success would be a major contributing factor. if it is no longer enjoyable and you are suffering injury while not being very profitable, it would be a good move. damir would be irrelevant at this stage, she is independent and can make her own decisions
3. I would hate to see her leave. She is to good of a player. If she is injured she should take some time of to heal. She is fun to watch on the court. Yes, she hasn't accomplished what others has i.e. Justine, but she has won many tournaments and she is young and you never know when you are going to break out. With practice she has many great years ahead of her.
4. It is usual that a tennis player wants to retire in the early ages .Maybe because they prefer to be agood mother or wife than become tennis player. But , I don't know who is Jelena Dokic ?
5. Are you sue?! This did not hit the headlines?! She's quite a good player you know....but whatever, she'll still be always outside the top 10 and age has already overtaken her!
6. i think she retired like a longgg time ago. it's a shame cos she was a great player but obviously her heart wasn't in it.
7. She is very talented and pleasing to the eyes I love watching her play, it will be a great lost to the tennis world if she does retire,so I really hope she doesn't and personally I don't think she will...
