Do you guys think De la Hoya will actually retire "if" he loses?
He was on Jay Leno Monday night and announced he would retire if he loses vs Mayorga. It's not the first time he said that and kept on fighting. Altought i don't think he will lose, will he really retire?

- He should retire. he isn't what he use to be.
- he is getting older we shall see if he still has it
- I find it hard to believe that. If he lost to Mayorga, he would probably set a rematch for September 16th. He was looking forward to fighting Pretty Boy Floyd then, but how could he resist going out with a vengeance? ;D I do believe he's going to retire soon, but unless Mayorga finds a way to completely dominate Oscar (which I doubt), I see De la Hoya sticking to that one last fight he has planned.
- there's only one way to find out.
- No! He won't retire. It is somewhat of a boxer's curse, they often try to leave, but too often comeback and unfortunately do not officially retire until they've truly been beaten. Even then, some come back to fight journeymen, mostly for the money but probably just to feel that rush one more time. (Julio Cesar Chavez, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hector "Macho" Camacho, just to name a few) He shouldn't lose this one though, DeLaHoya is even more of a technical boxer that Trinidad and Tito schooled Mayorga. Unless there is a major surprise, DeLaHoya should do the same.
- No he won't retire because he will be looking for vengance. He hates him that much
- he should hes not going to be the champ anymore. But he can still make money
