- Hope you speak Spanish.
- I think Mazatlan would be a good place to retire. Its the sister city of Santa Monica California. A beautiful beach city with lots of growth and job opportunities for english speaking people since its a great tourist destination. They have a large english speaking German population there as well which is why there are so many breweries there too. I love Mazatlan. If I was retiring, thats where I would go.
- I would suggest you first come to Guadalajara and see. We have an American Society here, there you are able to meet people and discuss your desires. Mexico is so large so what you want to do is in different areas of Mexico. Everything that you mentioned is here . Like I suggest first come to Guadalajara , rent a hotel or a place and see where you eventually want to move. Mexico is not inexpensive as it was years ago.
- I have lived and traveled Mexico starting 1967 living on the beach is fun, the heat is hard ones body after a while so I home base Oaxaca city not to hot not to cold six hrs. over the mts. buy bus to the beach stay until it's time to go. Oaxaca some what central location is ideal for travel to other areas. Many times I had a small truck, you don't need bus system is good. Problems in Oaxaca now it will blow over. Lot's US citizens to have coffee each day.
- my mom retired there. she loves it. she did not speak spanish but is now learning. it's not absoutely necessary, but of course helps. you can find a lot of info on the net and get some books as well. that's what she did. then go for a visit and check the various area that you are interested in. good luck!
