- Scary, as the people coming into the workforce today don't WANT to work - they, generally, are lazy, self-centred and believe they are OWED everything. They have never experienced anything but great prosperity and have been given most everything they wanted in life...they are in for a major shock when the economic cycles changes, as it always does!
- Please, by 2050 the world is expecting to have 12 billion people. We'll have plenty more for that.
- I think there will be lots of jobs and opportunity for the younger generation. There will be more jobs and less competition. I'm a federal worker, and the federal government has been doing heavy recruiting of the younger generation for several years already. Within 5 years about 50% of the federal workforce will be eligible for retirement, and they are scrambling to deal with "brain drain" as many older workers retire or become disabled. I also think baby boomers in general will work longer than previous generations and that will be good for the economy, and also good for the younger generation.
- I suppose there will be more job opportunities in some areas. Not so much in the computer industry because that's a relatively new thing. But how about telephone, cable and electrical companies and city, county and state workers where people who have been there 30+ years are getting ready to retire? Someone has to fill their shoes. There will always be jobs in the trades and they often come with benefits. I have great hopes for our future generation.
