Public Comments

  1. nursing, health care- more old people and retiring people retirement financial planners truck drivers - really most jobs requiring experience will have some effect as the experienced work force will shrink
  2. I recently read an article saying customer service (healthcare esp.), computer technology and construction.
  3. jobs in the healthcare field will become more available and more lucrative. As the the boomers age, not only will the need for doctors and nurses explode but the entire geriatric care industry (ie nursing homes, home care aides, and rehabilitation facilities). Also given the boomers desire to remain active. and their penchant for for the unusual, I would expect nutritionist, health clubs, spas, to see a surge.
  4. The book, "100 Best Careers for the 21st Century" by Shelly Field lists 100 jobs in 11 categories: Medical Technology and Health Care; Fitness and Nutrition; Geriatrics; Education; Computers; Hospitality and Travel; Advertising / Communications / Public Relations; Home Businesses; Sales and Service; Science and Engineering; Conservation and the Environment. Thousands of job descriptions, qualifications, and employment forecasts are listed in the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) at the United States Department of Labor's web site: http://www.dol.bls.gov/oco. Additionally, if you just use the problem/solution train of thought as applied to today's global economy, you'll realize where our greatest needs lie. One example begins with the greenhouse gases problem--We need engineers, chemists, and environmentalists to develop alternative fuels
