After Bob Barker retires from "The Price Is Right" this spring, will network TV daytime game shows be dead?
Public Comments
- Most likely, I can't see CBS even attempting to replace Bob Barker as the host.
- I think so, Bob is the best. No one can fill his shoes.
- yes for old people who watch that stuff. I don't watch it so who cares if he does retires it still the same game show different host thats it!
- The Price Is Right has been around for something like 35 years. You really don't think CBS will continue the show because Bob Barker is retiring? I don't think so. Die hard fans watch the show for the games. Bob Barker is just the icing. Remember when Jeopardy came back in 1984 and everyone said it will never fly without Art Fleming.....
- probably. The only other veteran gameshows are Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
- I say it depends on the new host they choose. I went to one of the audition shows and saw John O'Hurley and Doug Davidson try out. John O'Hurley was awful and if picked will ruin the show. Doug Davidson, on the other hand was surprisingly good. He had a very endearing, genuine quality about him. They were also auditioning Todd Newton later that day, but didn't see him. He hosts TPIR at Bally's Las Vegas. I know they are looking at other people too, but I don't have anymore info.
