Public Comments
- fi dollas
- i have no idea. this should be planned considering the projected costs and the level of standard you want to retire, perhaps a million
- You wont need money by that time. However, you will need HONEY to make those African killer bees happy.
- if your in U.S.A right now Currency: peso Meals Budget: US$2-3 Mid-range: US$3-5 Top-end: US$5-15 Lodging Budget: US$10-30 Mid-range: US$30-100 Top-end: US$100-400 As with the other Asian Tigers, the Philippines economy has been fluctuating fairly wildly in recent years. Generally speaking, however, the Philippines are slightly more expensive than other countries in the region. You'll get the best value for money in North Luzon, while you're more likely to shell out in Boracay and Cebu. The US dollar is the most recognized currency in the Philippines, and is often easier (and cheaper) to change than travelers' checks. Large denomination US bills will get you a particularly good rate, but only clean banknotes are acceptable. If you want to use checks, the bigger brands will be accepted by most banks throughout the country. ATMs are all over the place, and you can use MasterCard and Visa in them. Whether you tip or not is up to you. Restaurant staff will generally expect one, even if there is a service charge included. If you're catching a taxi with a working meter, round up the amount. When shopping, especially in markets, it's worth trying to get a 10% discount - most Filipinos will aim for one. As a tourist you'll probably be quoted a higher than usual price anyway.
- I watched a TV program about the life in Philippines a weak ago. According to it, you need 2,000 dollars a month. Whithin this money, you can hire a private driver and a maid, and rent a quiet good townhouse in urban area.( In Philippines, the foreigner can not own the real estate.)
- Paul, foreigners can own a condominium. Purchase P5 million and up. Rent P20,000 and up. Car P800,000 and up. Doctor fees P500 up. Groceries P10,000 up. Golf and country club playing rights P300,000 up per year. Hope this helps. =)
