What is the best way to ship household goods to the Philippines?

I will retire next August and want to move to Cebu City , Philippines. I want to know what is the best and least expensive way to do this. My wife and Daughter are Philippine Citizens, I am looking to ship tools, some houshold items and maybe a car.

  1. Rent space in a container that going that way. It may take quite a while, but that should be the best bet. You might consider selling most of it and buying new/used in Cebu.
  2. i think that it will be cheaper to buy some of the stuff in the philippines. should you decide to ship your stuff (except the car), ask some filipinos where ever you are located (if you meet one) how do they send stuff to philippines? usually they do it through a "balik-bayan box" it means a box or package for people going back home to Philippines. in the UK, the weight does not matter. the charge depends on the size of the box and where in the philippines will you send it.
  3. Don't send anything to there. You are better off by buying it 'cause it will be easier and cheaper!
  4. Hello there.. Try the Crown International Forwarders.. We use this service when we move to Italy 4 years ago and last year when move again here in Bangkok Thailand, is not that expensive.. We like there service and you will like it too... Welcome to the Philippines..
  5. Yup, get quotes from shippers and references from friends. Your shipper is only as good as the broker on this side. The broker here can control a lot including ensuring your boxes are not opened by customs. We shipped our stuff here from the Bay Area for about $1500 (31 Balikbayan Boxes and some furniture including bed frame, matress, and box springs).
