- Maybe you should keep your money "offshore" like the Channel Islands and only transfer to Phillipines bank and local currency when you need it. Lots of the major UK banks, like HSBC, have suitable operations.
- you can open account there or you send money with western union fast and trust no problem
- I really do not know the answer to your question, but I do hope my fellow Filipinos who do know the answer will be able to help you out. Just be weary enough for, sadly, there are some of my fellowmen who might take advantage and, you know, trick you into emptying your pockets or something. Maybe, ask some of our more trustworthy banks and money handlers.......... Good Luck!!!!!!! :-)
- First Check with the immigation / customs (thro. web) how much UK Pounds you can bring in to the country at the time of entering. I was there .. for about three years. My experience is you should keep your Foreign Currecies without exchanging. Manila economy is realy volatile when it comes foreign currencies. Reputed money changers change their rate (sometimes) two times a day. So you have to keep an eye. Ther periods when the Forex rates go down much. Think about the security situation also. If you have lot of money, keep them in an Account. Robberies/ theft possible. Don' go to massage palours / bar/ karaoke with a large amount of money. It will be safe for your money... and you good for your personal safety also. Try to log onto Expat community website in the Phils for more updates. www.passport2manila.......or something like like that....use google pls.
- Hi Dave, check your email. I sent you an information on your question. It includes how and the benefits.
- if your bringing pounds, there's always one of those exchange places where you can change money.
- Keep your money in the bank and bring only the necessary cash with you... there are lots of international banks here... and your mastercard or visa can go a long way... once you get here, you may ask your "home bank" to transfer funds into a local bank here... to go a long way, retire to a suburb area... hospitable people, low price of commodities and magnificent environment... welcome to the Philippines.
