1. Leno took the tonight show (Leno will soon be replaced by Conan in 2009). Letterman was the first Late Night talk show host for CBS.
2. Before Letterman, that time slot was filled by Tom Snyder on 'The Tomorrow Show'. Much later, when he moved to CBS, Letterman's production company created 'The Late Late Show', who's first host was the same Tom Snyder.
