Overseas credit card-Unpaid?

In my previous overseas assignment of 5 years, I had credit card balance overseas. When I was there, I was regularly paying and had my account upto date till the last day. However, I had to leave the country for another overseas project. I tried to contact the bank via mail/telephone to findout a way to continue paying them, or if they can send me the bill overseas, but guys were not very cooperative. They insisted that since Im not living there, I should pay off the FULL amount (which I could not) After trying to convince them, I gave up because as expected guys started harassing me (at the cost of my own long distance calls!!) and did not make any attempt to help. Then that Bank got acquired by another bank. I gave up on trying. Now Im a citizen of another country and have excellent credit here. Do u think at any point this little credit (US$ 6000) in that country can create problem for me?? If I travel, or visit friends and family?? Appreciate comments and helpful suggestions

  1. unless they are feeding into the one of the 3 major reporting companies, there is no way for that info to affect your credit here.
