The USA is beating us overseas, anyone else worried?
I haven't been paying as much attention to either national side since summer began, recently I just found out that most of the USNT consists of players playing in europe. This worries me, why is the USA beating Mexico overseas? Granted most play in the "English speaking" Premiership, but why aren't Mexicans flooding Spain? I understand that Mexicans are comfortable in the FMF that the pay is better than most leagues, but already you can see the results of US players going overseas. I hate the US team as much as the next mexican, but Dempsey & Bocanegra have improved so much in their tenures overseas, Adu I think will soon follow suit. I understand that the few Mexicans we have overseas play on strong clubs, but what are players like Cacho, Magallon, Pinto, Arce, and maybe even Landin still doing here? They probably wouldn't make it at Barca but I know they could hold their own on a small Spanish team/Big French team. Thank you for answering. blue why the hell do you even leave a comment then you dumb bastard? go win a game without a pk u little bit(h! damn hatecrew ur a funny bastard man :p

- I'll tell you why!!! The OWNERS OF THE CLUBS!!! Look for example how hard it was for Guardado to go overseas??? Everything has to do with money!!! When they talked about Sending Oswaldo and O.Bravo...they were asking 5million for Oswaldo and 3Million for Bravo....C'MON PEOPLE....you think that these players are worth this much??? NO!!! The Mexican clubs only care about getting there money and dont care about the players intrest!!! If Vergara got his head out of his Verga.....and sell his players for a decent amount.....Spain/England and all of europe would be flooded with Mexicans!!! There is always talk about this and that player going to play over seas but it never happends....thats because the other team wont pay that much money for a player that is not worth it!!! THATS WHY europe is not flooded with Mexicans.....the MLS sells its players real cheap and thats is a great news for the players and the National Team.....so how do you expect our national team to grow when 90% of these club owners wont get there head out of there a**
- Well since you hate the US team so much and are such a hater, I'm not going to bother dignifying your question with proper a answer.
- I don't know if our national players are beating yours over to Europe because I keep seeing more Mexican players showing up over there. Is it a case of European teams not scouting your leagues for talent?
- why would you want to stay in the MLS? The Mexican league is 6th in revenue in the world. they pay well and have a very strong league. Most league only have two or three clubs that dominate, while the Aztec league has nearly 8-10? now with santos & puebla giving the strong teams a run for their money. if it wasn't for the latin american players, EURO ball pretty much sucks. many teams lack style and control. sometimes looks like kids are playing kicking the ball everywhere. just my opinion, don't get upset.
- First of all, I'm Mexican and I don't hate the USA team. I hope they do well, just a little less well than Mexico. I rather see any team from Concacaf win in a World Cup or friendly match than from any other area. The main reason is as 'Uribe' pointed out, why would you leave a league where you're making already a very good salary?. When a mexican players get to be 26-27, if he's playing for the national team, they are making more money that what they would get in Europe as newcomers. Granted, they will make more if they make it, but that's a considerable IF that they need to consider. On the other hand, the need for Mexican players to go to Europe is less than for USA players because there is more money in the mexican league. Finally, the owners...a team is a business, why do you feel that they have to let go of a top-fligth player for less that what they think that they could get for them in the local market? If Monterrey pays 7 M for Suazo, doesn't Guadalajara thinks that they should get at least 5 M for Omar? I'd like to see more players in Europe, but I think that will only change if European teams decide to spend more on them to take them. Remember that a mexican player that wants to go to Europe is competing in talent/price not against Europeans, but against Brazilians, Argentinians and specially Africans, who are so talented, cheaper and have a longer history of providing good results in Europe.
- the only reason possible is the quality of mexican players. If the mexican players were good enough, rich europeans would be buying these players!
- One thing may be this: a number of these Americans who play in Europe lived in Europe as youths and got their schooling though those country's development programs, so they fit in well with European play. Second, I do not know, but are there many Mexican player who will sacrifice being a well paid star in Mexico to be a lower paid workhorse in Europe. This is not an issue for most American players, who are often college educated men from the upper middle class, and not used to being a superstar in any way. As for you hating the US Team. Good. I do not hate Mexico's team, but it is good to have a regional rival as the level and the popularity of the game in the US increases at a increasingly rapid rate (With much help from our wonderful Mexican immigrant community, I will say).
- they have more players in europe but mexico has more success in europe then the americans itz a fact so who cares if they have more until they start winning i could care less
- it's quality not quantity my friend all of the mexican players over there are stars not jus another player in the team plus they are in top notch teams not just any team , barcelona, deportivo, psv eidonven , stuttgart and not so famous shakhtar ukraine champion. proof of what i'm saying marquez is within the 30 best in the world and giovani well let's say that his recesion would cost 100 mil. cacho, magallon, pinto are not good enough for europe arce too late the only one that should leave asap is memo ochoa david out all of those players how many are international stars i would say just one out of 71 that's pathetic mexico has 7 players and 7 stars in european futbol. fyi many mexicans don't leave cause mexico's league is among the best not to mention with a pretty decent salary. i stand incorrected.
- mexican players dont like going overseas to play. those who do go out usually come back to mexico within a year. just have to face teh fact that US soccer is on its way up. clint dempsey just won player of the month in the EPL. carlos bocanegra is one of the better defenders. tim howard one of teh best goalies in england. US, like mexico have some of the under 20 world cup players in europe. freddy adu (benfica), danny szetela (racing de santander), sal zizzo (hannover), ferarri (sampdoria of italy). mexico is just going to have to face the fact that they are no longer the only team in CONCACAF.
- I gotta agree with Uribe, the Mexican league is richer and IMO better than the MLS, thus the players in MLS are more apt to leave and play in Europe. I gotta disagree with Uribe on his opinion that Euro ball sucks without Latinos. Um, the World Cup was won by a Euro team beating another Euro team! But the players from Latin America do bring some flavor to Europe...
- they wont be beating us anymore, because we have developed a better team with much more talent.
- eddie I am american and an expert at this topic.the US has aproximately 55 americans playing in europe right now.they are spread out throughout europe.mexico has about 7 if I am not mistaken.many mexicans have tried europe and failed.they cant stand the misery of being looked down at when they come back home to mexico as failures.US players dont back down to the fear of this.another interesting stat.among the top leagues in europe. England,Spain,Germany,Italy,Holland and Portugal.there are 20 americans.1(Holland)Herenveen finished 5th place last year in the dutch league.1(Portugal)Benfica,finished 2nd place last year,1(Italy)Sampdoria,midtable club,1(spain)Racing,midtable club,4(Germany)2,hannover,upper midtable, also just recently took stuttgart to school last weekend 2-0 win.1,Wolfsburg upper midtable,1,Hansa Rostock newly promoted and 12(England)EPL 4 Fulham lower mid table 2 Reading upper midtable, qualified 7th or 8th place in EPL last year into EUFA cup,1,Everton finished 6th last year,1,blackburn upper midtable,1,West ham lower midtable,1 Bolton finished 5 th place last year,2, Derby county newly promoted thats 20 americans in the top leagues in the highest levels of football in the world.the mexican league is a joke compared to these leagues.
- There's a whole lot of different reasons for this: 1) The main reason is, as others have said, Mexican clubs make it really difficult for their players to leave. A whole mess of Mexican players would be playing in Europe if it wasn't for their team's asking price. If you want to leave, you better do so before your prime or else the team is going to be asking for a lot more money than European teams will be willing to pay. 2) Another big reason, related to the first, is that the Mexican League is one of the best-paying leagues in the world, so why would most people leave if they're earning twice as much in Mexico as they would in Europe. 3) There may be a whole mess of US players playing abroad, but none of them are really notable figures, nor are they playing in the biggest clubs in Europe. The biggest name in US soccer is Landon Donovan and as we all remember he didn't have a very successful run in European soccer. Where are their Sanchez, or Marquez, Salcidos, Pardos, Gios? How many US players won cups with their European teams last season? Finally, why do we keep fixating on Europe when the Mexican League is one of the best in the world? I think we should stop believing that world class soccer can only be played in Europe and start expecting much more from la Liga Mexicana.
- This is part of the reason why the US is having success against mexico... the US players are getting more and more experience against top teams and players from around the world and that transfers to their national team play, mexico is just competing against each other which leaves you stagnant. sorry to burst your bubble but being the 6th biggest league income wise doesn't make you the 6th best league in terms of players it just means that a lot of people go to the games. The mexican team does play well but they arent getting better at the rate in which the US team is improving in part because of players getting experience on euro soil.
