Live overseas for 12 months or finish my degree and start career?

I'm 23 yo. and have just recently completed my Psych degree. I am now half way through having a year off, but recently my partner and I have been discussing living overseas, possibly in the UK, for a year. He only has a couple of years left on his working visa and I have always wanted to travel through Europe so it could be a great opportunity for both of us. However, I have been struggling to come to a decision about whether to do what could possibly be an experience of a lifetime as I am worried about loosing my motivation to actually want to go back to Uni and go through an intensive 2 years Masters degree after living overseas and having a great time for 12 months. I have been working damn hard for the past 4 years to get to this point and I don't want to risk throwing it all away and forgetting how important finishing my degree is to me, which I'm worried may happen after living abroad for 12 months. Anyone else been in this situation or have any thoughts?

  1. Finish your degree and then you are free to make the decision to go travelling a while or go onto a career immediately.
  2. Finish the degree and then go to the UK you will find it easier to get a better job.
  3. TRAVEL. the way i see it is - 1- if you're itching to get away and that's all you can think about - you're not going to do well on your masters. 2 - Do it now whilst you're not in tons of debt. Can you honestly say you're going to leave a steady job to go and travel. This may be your only chance. And it really is a once in a lifetime thing...... Go for it.
