  1. MTN Won't be able to connect over there, unfortunately. The only thing you can do is check if your cellphone is compatible with the sim cards used overseas. A quatro band phone will work overseas on different networks. I think even a tri-band phone but the service provider MTN only allows overseas mailbox check ups.
  2. There is no point. My daughter use to bring her phone when she comes to visit me in UK. When she got a call, the caller paid for the SA side of the call and she was billed for the overseas call at cell rates. She went home to a bill of several thousand Rand. Also all local calls that she made here go through SA so you get overseas charges phoning next door. Get a phone here(or bring your own) get a pay as you go sim card here. I believe that you can hire phones also.
  3. The MTN network will work almost anywhere in the world, all you have to do is activate international "Roaming" you should contact you service provider or check the MTN website for more details.
  4. ........but you can roam.......you want to tell me that MTN cannot roam?
  5. First check if MTN has a Roaming agreement with the country which you plan to visit. If it doesn't check Vodacom. If Vodacom does have such an agreement & you really want to have use of your cellphone while abroad, port to Vodacom then you could always port back to MTN when you return. That way you can still have use of your cellphone, irregardless of the network provider, at the same MTN number. I hope this link helps http://www.mtn.co.za/?pid=328741
  6. jut go to any internet shop and you will be connected to anywhere in the world
  7. *Buy a cell phone (depending where you go, your SA cell phone's hardware may be useless) and a sim card there. *E-mail * Skype (free PC-toPC phone calls)
