OSR (Overseas Service Ribbon)?
Okay I was stationed in Germany (1st AD). Nowwww....I was given two overseas service ribbons. 1 for my time in Germany and 1 for my time in Iraq (while I was still with 1st AD). Okay now I'm at another unit and their telling me I'm only authorized 1 OSR. It says 2 on my ERB and I'm almost positive I'm awarded 2 anyways because of the year in Iraq and the year in Germany. My unit is saying one because I was already overseas when I deployed to Iraq. I'm pretty sure their dead wrong. Any thoughts?

- no actually guy your wrong..you were already overseas so how in the world do you think you can get another overseas ribbon for going to iraq. you have to go from conus to oconus to recieve an osr
- I think the OSR is for an overseas permanent duty assignment, not a deployment overseas (of course all deployments would be overseas outside of a Second Civil War).
- Have your PAC check the current regulation. You should have received a single OSR for a completed tour in Germany. For the deployment to Iraq you should have received the GWOT-E (Global War on Terror Expeditionary) medal, unless there has been an Iraq Campaign medal approved.
- 1 geedunk ribbon is more than enough unless you want to be a general.
- Why not just check your personal packet and see what it has listed for your authorized decorations. If it says two, then wear two, if it says one, then you wear one. End of story.
- I believe to get two OSR you must have to PCS moves. I'd check the regs and personnel to be sure. Don't take my word for it and don't take the word of the too many wannabes in YA military section. I think there maybe be a time factor involved as well. After all, an aircrew member doesn't get an OSR just because he flies into a country to drop cargo. He'd have to be stationed at an overseas base/station. then have a follow-on PCS to another overseas base/station.
- I was in 1AD and in Iraq. It is just one OSR. The OSR is for a permanent duty station outside the US, not for a deployment. I did Kosovo also while I was in Germany, only got one OSR not three. If your records say to they are wrong. If you want to make E7 someday get them fixed, if not they will catch them on your boards and may not promote you.
