Early Retirement?
My parents are 61 and they are planning to retire early at 62. How soon in advance to they need to apply for an early retirement? how soon will they start getting their checks after they turn 62? thanks

- at least 6 months before they reach 62 they need to go to the SS office (have them make an appointment) and than they can fill on the necessary paper work -- they will get their check during the first month after they retired!!!
- I'm not entirely certain how long in advance they should apply for Social Security.
