retirement oz

Is Brett Favre dying or retiring?

Don't get me wrong, the guy is a top 5 QB of all-time, but this ESPN lovefest and prior Madden lovefests, focusing on how hard his personal life has been, is getting a bit out of hand. Most of the world will have a dead parent in their life and will lose a spouse at some point. His wife is a survivor, thank God, so why must Boo-ya network and Madden continue to celebrate what Brett Favre 'has overcome'? - Just wondering.........

  1. Both, im sure if he died he would be forced to retire...dont you agree?
  2. is he the one with cancer?
  3. neither
  4. retiring
  5. hope he's retiring. He's gotta think about safety
  6. He is a living legend, why is it so horrible to honor him while he is still around? Instead of wondering what if when he is gone. you shouldn't feel annoyed by it, you should relish that you caught a glimpse of greatness in your time.
  7. Neither! He will retire based on how he feels at the end of the season. ....he sure isn't dying!
  8. Hes having a good season and I'm a Lions fan. He's still good.
  9. Just watch the game GB 10 DVR 7
  10. I believe that he wants to stick around long enough that people will forget that he was once good.
  11. Becasue he is a top 5 player. So let's ask the question again but in a different way and then you can tell me if it makes sense. "why doesn't ESPN and Madden talk about everyone in america that has lost a loved one? There are many people that have had hard lives so why doesn't ESPN cover all fo them?" Do you get what you are saying yet?
  12. I can agree with you on some extinct. Truth is, I think things that has happened in here personal life and made him a better QB It has brought some awareness to the NFL such as the breast cancer situation. before that, the NFL wasn't wearing pink towels or whatever. They have help raise a lot of money to fund raiser because of his name alone. at times it's annoying but it is also heart warming.
  13. Favre is a really great guy, fun to be around and liked by most everyone. It's especially hard to see how life has treated him and everyone around him harshly. If they didn't like him, they probably wouldn't talk about it as much as they do.
  14. they're butt kissers? i think they should talk about jay cutler some more, he's comming up pretty well. i do respect brett favre though, he's been playing as long as i can remember. they tend to only talk about the "best" player/team in the game until that person/team gets outdone by the other team, then they change their tune. i hate when they do that.
  15. I don't think he will ever do either. :) That personal stuff they do on TV--like when the camera zooms in on a player's family, or they talk about their dead family member, or anything else meant to stir the affective domain of our psyche--is such a pantload. I hate all that crap. I want to see the game, and hear some insight, not a bunch of sappy, crappy drivel. It has no bearing on the action and is of monumental disinterest. Play the game, show the game, and talk about the game, or STFU!
  16. It isn't unique to Favre. Chip Carey asked, "Is this the last time we see Roger Clemens in a Yankee uniform" so many times during ONE GAME of the American League playoffs that he turned it into a cliche over the course of three innings! There were untold praises for Criag Biggio in the last half of the baseball season once he announced his retirement. If you'll think back, Marino and Elway were also, for want of a better term, fawned over at the end of their career. Perhaps it's human nature: we don't want to see our sports heroes get older and retire, partly because it means WE'RE getting older.
  17. Bret is a warrior, but even warriors have to stop one day,as for the ESPN lovefest, they do that to everyone just to have something to talk about
  18. I have somewhat wondered that myself. Yeah, all that is great -- don't get me wrong. But I also think they have gone beyond the point of overkill with it.
  19. I think brett should retire. he is way too old to play football. if he got hit hard enough it could screw up his life. he also cant move around as well and pretty soon he will propably have trouble throwing. so dude just RETIRE!!!!!!!
  20. he is great and im sure he is just retiring
  21. Brett Favre is a National Treasure and has had more tragedy than anyone in the history of the world. Here are some mix-and-match headlines you can use to cover the next Favre-well story when it happens: Brett's (wife/stepfather-in-law/ father/ dog/ wildebeest) has (lost his bar to a hurrican'/gained custody of the family keg/survived toe cancer/humped the Missisissippi State mascot) so (we should all buy 3 more #4 jerseys/ the Packers will unquestionably win the Super Bowl/ God is definitely a Cheesehead!)
