does anyone know what federal law makes military retirement pay untouchable?
I've been searching for the answer for two on the internet..no luck

- How do you mean? Alimony? or Child Support? What do you mean untouchable, because if that's what you're talking about, it isn't under all circumstances.
- Tell that to my buddy who retired from the Navy 6 years ago. He pays his ex wife 400 per month and they also take out an extra 300 for child support. They touched his pay and told him to suck it up and not to complain.
- Depends on what your talking about. When I was on active duty, if you were behind on credit payments the company would write to the commanding officer and you were called in on the carpit for it. If he received too many you faced possible discharge under conduct unbecoming a serviceman.
- There are some things which have been put through in appreciation to those on active duty, for example, while you are on active duty your student loan is on standby status. But there is no federal law that makes military pay untouchable. It can be attached just like any other pay if you aren't paying your obligations.
