- Reserve time counts for retirement in 2 ways if you do 20 or more years in the Reserve your time is added up with your active time and used to determine how Meany retirement points you have. no one knows for sure how all this works but they use that number to figure out how much your monthly retirement check will be starting when you turn 60 (or so there have been updates) not when you retire. Or if you do 20 or more years active. Reserve time counts for pay increasing the amount of pay you make and hence your retirement check. Also your reserve time is added up on a form with all your orders to find out how much active time you have from the reserve (ADSW, TDY, Mobilizations, not AT or drills) mine added up to 5 months of active duty time for retirement.
- Listen to him he obviously knows what he's talking about.
