To save money could I use disease and pest free wood that I heat treated for my terrarium.?

I'm trying to save money and create an awesome setup for my future iguana I want to use wood and other things from outside to decorate my terrarium. I wouldn't use anything that could be eaten or potentially dangerous. I just think I could find way cooler stuff outside and heat treat it then going to the store and and buying what everybody else has for a small fortune.

  1. The best thing to do is freeze for at least 24 hours to kill germs and insect eggs etc.
  2. i agree, thats the way my sis did it for hers and she's had it 4 like 3 yearss
  3. Yes you can I have done this with my birds and reptiles. Just clean the items real well and dry completely even it you have to place a fan on the item for a day or two.
  4. If you heat treat it everything will be fine. Freezing doesn't kill germs so it is pretty much pointless heat treating is the best.
  5. totally true dont buy that crap, find it yourself, if never had a problem, and heat treat ing works fine
