How can I save money?

I save about 50% of my pay for old age. Should I save more? My retirement fund is losing money.

  1. I SAVED 15% BY SWITCHING TO GICO
  2. If your retirement fund is losing money, you need to seriously evaluate what you are investing in. Either you are taking way too much risk or are being tackled from behind by inflation because you are taking too little risk. You need to invest in a variety of stock mutual funds that have long term track records of 10-15%. Hope this helps!
  3. most people save at least 20% of their income towards retirement. you seem to be heading in the right direction. if your retirement fund is losing money make sure that you have a deversified portfolio. also make sure that you don't have a huge amount of funds going toward high risk investments. remember that you don't have to place all extra funds into retirement plans. try money market acct and bonds.
  4. you need to be out of debt, live on a budget that is less than you make and save and invest with someone who can explain what your investments are doing.
  5. Hey there! I am a Financial Coach and if your retirement fund is losing money, are you losing money or shares . Losing money is ok as long as you dont sell the shares after you have lost the money. In time the value of the shares will go back up. it may be because of amount in the fund, some investment advisors does not like dealing with small accounts get a new advisor. Now if you have no advisor/coach i would say you need one.
