At what rate is Military Retirement Annuity/Pay taxed?

Is my military retirement annuity/pay taxed at the same rate as regular income, or is there a special tax rates for annuities?

1. Yes, it's taxed as ordinary income. No Social Security or Medicare taxes are levied on it, just income taxes. Some states grant an exemption to retirement annuities, military or otherwise. Consult with your state tax authorities on your state's treatment of your retired mil pay.
