- Remember there's a big difference between what you WANT and what you actually NEED. :o)
- I save all my change. anytime i go shopping and get change back I take it home and put it in a jar until I save a lot. change adds up.
- Don't spend it on crap. Pay your bills and stash the rest.
- By go out less and put yourself on a budget before you start going out to buy grocery, takeout, shopping... Remembering the bigger picture rather than satisfying that moment is always a good thing to trỵ
- If your company or bank allows it, divert a portion of every paycheck directly into some form of savings or investment account. Since it doesn't go straight into the account you use for your regular spending, it makes it harder for you to use and less like to miss.
- If you work, think how much time you have to work to pay for whatever you`re tempted to buy and think "is it worth it" ? Works for me...
- As "nine" said, distinguish between your "wants" and "needs". Try to sit down and take a look at all you spend, including fixed bills...electric, rent, water, etc. Write down how much you spend on other items like food, gas, etc. You can clip coupons for the grocery store. You can shop around for cheap gas prices. You can try to do all your errands in one stop to avoid wasting gas. You can shut off lights when not in use. You can disconnect appliances when not in use also. I disconnect everything that goes into a wall socket, including the computer. By doing this, I have saved between $10.00 - $15.00 a month. If you want to purchase something, take it with you in the store and hold unto it until you are ready to cash out. If after having held that item for a short time, you may decide "do I really need this"? If you want it more than need it, then you are spending money foolishly. Another good way is to get a little notebook and write everything you buy, even candy, or a coffee. After doing this for a month, you will see where you can cut some things out and start to save. The money that you would have spent on that coffee, or muffin, can be put in a savings account. There is a site called "SimpleDollar.com". They have all kinds of ideas to help you save. Go to your library and get "free" books to save money on almost anything. I could go on, but I won't. Just tap into your sources, like the internet and you will get a load of free information. Good Luck to you.
