- just stop spending and budget. right down everything you buy, even down to the magazines and bottles of drinks. you'l realise in the end you spend small amounts on a lot of little things which all together they'l add up x
- your screwed until you get some self control. I have money taken directly out of my paycheck and auto invested and that makes it out of sight out of mind for me; but then I don't get tempted to dip into that well.
- STOP SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY. You need some serious self-control and a serious budget. Start off by writing a number of how much money you want to save, then track your spending see where you are wasting the most money, if you do need to shop, go while there are sales, use coupons and buy generic. Live within your means and savings becomes very easy.
- I had the same problem. I opened a savings account at ingdirect.com (it is FDIC so you're money is safe...they just don't have any physical branches adn the interests rate is pretty good...no minimum required) and did a direct deposit with my job and just did like $50 everytime I was paid to go there. At first, I missed the money...but after a while, I didn't even notice that it was going to another account other than my checking. And since the only way you can withdraw it is by transfering it to your checking account which takes 2 days, I wasn't tempted when I was at the mall to buy something because it wasn't worth the hassle. I gradually increased the amount I saved so that now its $200 out of every paycheck going there. It has to be linked to a checking account you already have, but if you don't trust online banking, then maybe consider doing the same but at a bank that you don't already have....and don't get the ATM card linked to that account....this way you don't have easy access to your money. Another thing you can do is pair up with someone you trust to keep an account for you. My boyfriend does direct deposit to an account that is in my name, so he doesn't have access to it at all, unless I withdraw the money for him. In one month he saved $1000. Already have a savings account. Ask your bank if they can unlink it from your debit card so that you can't access the money if you visit an ATM.
