What are some ways you save money?

I am always looking for ways to save money. What are some of the ways you save money, what difficulties do you have in cutting those extra corners?

  1. The first thing coming to my head as smoker myself I would suggest to quit smoking...
  2. Put 50% of what you earn in a online high interest saving account .
  3. I only shop when I need things and I use a list. This cuts down on impulse buying. Since I use my cell phone a lot I got rid of my home phone. Guess what happens when you get rid of the home phone: No more telemarketers, wrong numbers, charities/groups or tending to an answering machine. I stay home more and do not eat out a lot. I barely drink any more. I have and use a budget regularly. I make budget adjustments as necessary. All of my big purchases are plan. I learned a long time ago not to buy new electronic gadgets when they first appear on the market such as a Big Screen TV. When VCRs first came out, I paid $1,000 for one. How much are they now? So I will wait a couple of more years and the prices will come down. Besides they will be of better quality as well. I limit my gift giving throughout the year. I use gift cards to avoid excessive postage. I really try not to use my credit card for any thing. I treat my house as a business. So at the end of the month after all of the bills have been paid I want to have profits (savings). I send most of my money to an on-line bank (savings account). Higher interest and it keeps me from making too many withdrawals at my local bank. That is a few things that I do and it is nice to have $80 plus in my wallet for most of the month.
  4. First, Good for you for looking for more ways to save money!! Congrats. Second, GOOD LUCK! It is strenuous at times, especially if you are diligent and you have to be on a budget. Here's a simple list of ways we save money: 1.) Shop around for car insurance. (Most companies do check your credit score). 2.) Switch to a checking account that pays interest and is free. 3.) Use ebates.com to do your shopping online. It's free and they send you money back in your mailbox ( a percentage of what you spend usually). 4.) Set aside $50 a month and put it in an online savings bank (I use EmigrantDirect) 5.)We put $100 into a Roth retirement account at T Rowe Price. We didn't have to put any money down to start and just a minimum of $50 a month. 6.) Check your local newspaper for grocery ads. Compare and then buy. 7.) If you buy something and can't use it, take it back! I know this seems obvious, but alot of people I know don't do it at all. They just put it away and think that maybe they'll use it later. 8.) Have your prescriptions sent to your house (Walmart does it). Hope this helps
  5. I have developed several ways to save money. 1. I save change in a jar and put certain dollar bills aside. I keep them out of sight so I won't be tempted to spend them and after my container is full I put it in my savings. 2. Drive slow or don't drive at all. I drive at the actual speed limit to save on gas. 3. Bring your lunch to work. I do that a lot but I like to eat out once in a while to reward myself. 4. Make your savings work for you. I like to put some money in a CD after I saved a certain amount of money. CDs are handy and if you need cash, you can cash on that with a penalty. You can also buy savings bonds or find small ways to save money. 5. Try to cook as cheaply as possible. Prepackaged foods can cost a lot of money so try to cook more. That's it. I hope this helps.
  6. 1. Do not budget your needs as much as your income. 2. Be economic. 3. Bring your own lunch to the office. 4. Avoid sale and bazaar as we would spend much money for things that we actually don't need it. 5. Buy things if we need it, not if we want it. 6. When receiving bonus, don't spend it all. 7. Saving is a must! read more at : http://www.tips7.net/t56_teach-yourself-...
