Do you think that our congress believes they can solve the social security problem with Mexicans?

Social security is in trouble. Baby boomers retiring will only have two workers to pay for their social security. Congress instead of facing the problem wants to import labor at cheap prices to fill the coffers to pay out the social security. This IS the reason they are so intent on having all the illegals legal and allowing them to bring their families. Is this an acceptable means of dealing with the problem?

1. I think this is one of many reasons they are proposing the current changes to immigration law. I do not find this to be an acceptable solution to the problem of social security. The best solution is to phase S.S. out over time. Let people save their own money. If we want to allow more immigrants lets allow ones that have already proven they don't care about our laws.

3. Really interesting point; I hadn't thought of that, though I did think the direction was creating new tax revenue, and plugging the tax drain. Given your point, I think there's some pretty well-considered merit toward establishing legal residency out of the current illegals. The alternative, such as mass deportation or continued illegality, simply costs much more money from the rest of us taxpayers.
4. No. But they think they can divert attention away from Social Security problems they have no intention of solving by talking about immigration. If you look at the records, it was known that Social Security was going to be a problem all the way back in the 60's. Democrats controlled Congress till 1994 and other than raise SS taxes they never did anything about it. They only exaggerated the problem by using creative financing to get the SS taxes into the federal coffers to be spent for other things.

7. It would only help SS if all those IA's suddenly started paying into the SSS. SS needs to be scraped all together, allow people to invest that money. It is too late for me, I'm retiring from public service soon. Be Blessed in Christ Jesus ! Minister
