Will you be retiring in the Philippines?
Will you choose to live in the City or in the province? What will be your activities?

- oh yeah... i might go someplace else to work, depending on how things turn out. But I would want to retire here, where the air is fresh, the cost of living isn't crippling (as compared to the US, Japan, and Europe), and where the people would smile their beautiful smiles and call me "manong." I'd probably live in Bulacan, or in Baguio. And live my remaining years in the loving embrace of my Motherland. Mabuhay tayong mga Pinoy!
- not me, but my husband is,
- sure will. i prefer the province.. quiet and laid-back. probably my hometown, zamboanaga city (its not as scary as ppl make it to be)..
- I want to retire in the Philippines with my wife. I want to live close to the beach. However, her family is from Davao so we will probably live in the city. Davao is near the ocean so I hope we can find something near the water.
- Can't wait. Another 3 years or so. I will live in the province and do very little.
- Yes I will be retiring to the Philippines. No later than July 2010. We have already purchased some property there, across the street from the ocean, and will start building our house this coming April. We have started a few small businesses and plan to start a few more before we actually retire. Of course, I just supply the money and reap some of the profits, I will not be working. I plan to learn Tagalog and 2 or 3 other dialects, travel, play my board games, learn to play guitar, maybe how to write songs, work with my computer, go treasure hunting, I'm buying a telescope, I'll get some binoculars to watch the ladies at the resort they will be building across the way and the list goes on. I'll be doing lots of things, I'll just be 52. We plan to live on Samar. Away from the normal hussle and bussle of the city. It'll be a nice combination of city and province living. Hope that everyones dreams can come true like mine will be.
- in God's time... yes... I'd choose living in a province near the city... activities... well... I'd probably join in a community service, or social service, or church service... or, I could also raise or take care my grandchildren, or nephews or nieces, etc... I could also travel around my own country...
- Myself and my wife who is Filipino are planing to retire in the Philippines. We think the best plan is to spend from November to end of April in the Philippines and from March to the end of September in the U.K. We have both been married for 23 years and have Three children here in the U.K. We are just awaiting for our children to finish there studies. My wife is from Urdaneta City Pangasinang. We already have a house and land just outside Urdaneta City. A few of my friends who are married to Filipinos have retired full time back in the Philippines. Sold there properties here, but only seem to last three of four years and return back to the U.K. and are now finding it difficult to buy property here. Due to prices of houses are too high. So the best thing I think is spend the Philippines summer there and return for the U.K. summer. 1) do not sell your property and buy your own property in the Philippines. 2) If you want rent out your property in the U.K. while in the Philippines. 3) always ensure you can return to the U.K. and will have some where to live. 4) Always do your home work and plan well. I hope this helpfull.
- I retired to the Philippines. Medical care was one of the decision that influence where I would live. I liked the rat race of Manila, but could not handle the pollution so selected Davao. When it came time to retire all of my immediate family had passed on and being away on assignments over the years I had really lost contact with distant relatives. At the time of retirement returning to the States for family was not an issue. I chose the Philippines because of the ability of a large portion of the people to speak English. I also wanted to be in a warm climate. The cost of living certainly was attractive. But, none of those things would have been important to me if I had family. The biggest void in my life is not having family and in my opinion family should be the number one decision maker when choosing a place to retire.
