  1. Motorboat: class holds hands in a circle and goes around slowly saying "motorboat, motorboat, go so slow....(pick up pace), motorboat, motorboat, go so fast....(then) motorboat, motorboat, step on the gas (class whips around in a circle, and little children squeal with laughter). Shark (like the game "red light" in the water): Teacher turns back and student creep forward. Teacher turns around and says "dolphin". It's safe, so kids can keep coming closer...teacher turns around and says "Shark" ...kids have to swim to the side as teacher chases them. if they are caught/tagged, then they are out.. Older kids - try an underwater scavenger hunt. The first one to find all the listed objects, wins. Watch old episodes of Survivor because they have some interesting underwater games, though you may have to simplify them a bit.
  2. Erm, for the younger ones try swimming though hoops. I used to love it when I was learning to swim. Get some of them to hold the hoops (big enough for them to swim through, like the hula hoops you do around your waist) then see who can swim through them. It really encourages them to swim underwater.
  3. Sharks and minnows- I swam for over six years and this was my favorite game. There is a shark in the middle of the pool and minnows on the side. The shark says minnows in the water and the minnows try to get to the other side without being pulled to the surface by the shark. Like the cross my sea game on land.
  4. ok i teach as well i play this game where two kids go on a mat one on each side and then they kick as hard as they can to push against the other kid kinda like tug-a-war but pushing
  5. Catagories -- One person is chosen to be the leader and goes to the opposite side of the pool to the other players. The leader then chooses a category (eg cars, colours, food, ice cream, drinks, etc) and tells the other players, who have to choose their answer/s to that category. The leader can either get out the pool or put their head under water in order not to hear what answers the other players are choosing. When the players have chosen their answer the leader has to try and guess the other players choices. If they get it right the player (or players if several have the same answer) have to race to the opposite side of the pool while the leader races to the players side of the pool. If the leader wins they remain the leader, but if they loose the person who won the race becomes a new leader. A good game is pairs partner the kids up and one person holds onto the others legs and the person in front does the arm movements and the one in back does the legs. You can have a race between the pairs. Stations Play as NEWS. but include nautical terms like: "port", - Left "starboard", - Right "stern", - Back "bow". - Front "Shark" All get out of the water. "Pirates" All jump in again Ok there you go, hope it helps!
