- place your large bills between the pages of a book you love so you wont forget about it.. keep your smaller bills in a wallet, and if you're looking for a way to save money... have two jars, whenever you get money put half of it in one jar and the rest in another. label the jars "Save" and the other "Spend" and only take money from the "Spend" jar :]
- quit spending money on fast foods sure it taste`s good but it`s expensive try buying food you will get a couple meals out of, sure ramen noodles suck but hey they can stretch your budget out a bit and pack a lunch instead of vending machine food, and get rid of some of those credit cards they just get you into trouble and you end up like you are now
- You can't !!!! You should have thought of this before you went on a spending spree. The longer you make the minimum payments the longer it will take to pay it off, most of your payment will go to interest and a very small amount to the principle. I never charge anymore on a card, only have 3, that I can't pay off in 2 payments. My father had the right idea, " If you can't pay cash for it, you can't afford it, and you probably did not need it anyway"
- All of the savings tips are valid. But if you're already doing pretty well on frugality (and chances are you're not), but once that is taken care of, you may need to increase your income. Some people work more than 40 hours per week - you can become one of them. Put the money from the OT and/or second job toward debt paydown only.
- 10 percent right off the top.pay your self first.i know easier said than done, but it adds up.hey i think ill take my own advice on that one as well. good luck.we need it.more than half this country has no savings and no retirement plans ,scary ha.
- Except from http://www.access-one.com.au Get Rid Of Debt Our purpose here is to help you get rid of your debts and start building a financially sound life for yourself. Here’s the good news: it’s really not that difficult, in fact once you get started it can and should be a lot of fun. The first thing I’ll emphasize to you is that, yes, you can do it. Others have done it, and so can you. The Getting Rid of Debt Two-Step Step 1 - Stop Creating New Debt!! That’s it. Don’t create any new debt. This should be very simple. Cut up your credit cards. Or at the very least quit carrying them around with you. If you must, during the start of this process, keep one in a box in the back of the closet, or put it in a small container and freeze it. If you really, really have to use one it will be there. There will come a time when you just won’t need to use one ever. When you stop creating new debt almost anything you do to pay off your debt will work. If you keep creating new debt almost nothing other than a sudden windfall of riches will work. So don’t even bother with step two unless you're serious about step one. The Emotional Cost of Debt Anxiety - Anger - Depression - Shame As bad as the financial cost of debt is, it is not the biggest price to pay for a life of saying "charge it". The emotional baggage that debt bestows is much worse. Do you fear the day your credit card bills arrive? What would it feel like to discuss your credit card balance with an acquaintance? You'd probably lie or change the subject wouldn't you? Do you walk around like a zombie knowing that it will take you years to pay off your debt or worse, that you have no plan or no idea how you will ever get it taken care of? Have you stopped having fun or do you secretly agonize with regret after you do? Do you lie awake at night worrying what to do about your debt? Is it 2am right now? Okay, you're getting the idea. Being in debt is miserable. It robs you of the joy of life and it cripples your sense of enjoyment and wonder. Point your finger at your credit cards, you choose the finger, and tell them "I'm never going to let you ruin my life again". Get out the scissors and cut them up. Cut them to pieces! Be careful, don't cut yourself, but you can put an end to your debt creation right now - so do it! You'll feel much better when they're gone. The Path To Freedom Are you ready to kick up your heals and start dancing? Then let’s start the “Getting Rid of Debt Two-Step”. “No new debt!” “No new debt!” “No new debt!” Step 2 - Pay off old debt NOW Congratulations! You’re moving onto the final step. OK so there’s only two steps but this is the final one. The simple solution. On a worksheet fill out the following: Make a list of the debts that you owe and the minimum monthly payments. Congratulate yourself because most people have never gotten this far. Prioritise them by either: Amount due Interest rate Any other method you choose (Normally prioritise by highest non tax-deductible interest rate first) Pay the minimum amount due on all your debts but the first one and on that one pay as much as you possibly can. When the first debt is paid off add the amount you were paying on it to the next debt. Continue until you're debt-free. Here are Some Extra Tips You can make even faster progress in paying off and forever eliminating your credit cards by reducing your interest rates. You can accomplish this by: 1) Calling your credit card company and asking them to lower your rate. Although this doesn't work as well as it once did it still works for many people and there's no penalty in trying. 2) If you are getting 0% or low introductory offers by other cards, accept them and transfer your higher percentage debt to the new card. Of course, you can't then go back and use the old card. How to Stay Out of Debt The way to stay debt-free is to: 1) Stop creating debt 2) Pay off your debt 3) Don't create any more debt Have I mentioned this before? If you need to know why, it's simple. There are a huge number of people (you're probably one of them) who will make the decision between having over $1,000,000 at retirement age or being broke. You will choose every time someone asks you, "Will that be cash or charge?" If you pay cash and invest the amount you would have been paying in fees and interest, you'll be rich. Charge it and you'll be on the way to the poor house. It's as simple as that. As with anything else, to change your current path you must know why you want to change. You must have leverage over your emotions, your habits, and your conditioned reflexes. In short, you must be convinced that you must change, it cannot be an option, and it must be a must. A Real Emergency Life just doesn't seem to make things easy on us. It's my belief that our challenges benefit us in ways that we may not fully understand. I'm ready for an even-keeled life that's without challenges but I know that the place that happens is not in this life. Emergencies happen and if you're dealing with them causes you to need to accept help, please do. If the help is in the form of temporary debt, so be it. Stand up to the challenge, confront it if you must. Conquer it, pay the debt back and move on without regret. Make Your Pitfall Short Pit Stops Then Move On If you fall off the horse, get back on and ride. If you can learn from it, learn. Don't agonize over it; just put it in the past and move on. Focus on your goals and what you can do today to get there. Goog Luck!
